I don't think real archers jumped around like sissies when they shot their arrows...

What's the draw poundage on these bows? When he does the jumping around, falling down, etc maneuvers his arrows can't even pierce the crappy round few centimeter thick targets.

Great that you can shoot 3 arrows in a second if those arrows go 10 m/s. What a silly video.

Check the end of the video. In the info page it is stated that he used 30 and 35 pound bows. Not enough do deal with real layered armour. Especially if the bow is not fully drawn.

Since nobody here is probably anywhere near to being able to do that shit...

I think it's still impressive.
When west germany annexed east germany, nobody moved a finger too.

still, using this technique and fully drawing the bow would still mean archer could fire alot faster.

personally I think lajos kassai's technique is more realistic and impressive, he can fire more arrows and fully draws the bow, all from horseback.

To me this is the point of the demonstration - and not so much the skateboarding elf stuff ;)

I like how the overdub is not related at ALL to what he says there.
Other than "firing very rapidly", he says exact numbers, but I can't make it out because of the stupid dub.

Genius.

Yes, but he is a soft modern man. A hard medieval warrior would not have an issue doing that with double or more the draw that our modern wimp used here.

That modern wimp propably trains more than every medival man would have had time or desire for. From my point of view close combat rapid fire archery is only usable from horseback and against low-armour targets. On foot it's better to stick to fully drawn long distance archery unless one is behind strong fortifications that seperates the angry target footman from oneself.

3rd post of this vid.

Anyways, that would be awesome if this was worked into crpg. I know, not gonna happen, but still it would be a great, dynamic addition

Maybe adding this in as an alternate mode archery with a damage decrease.

Men were FULL TIME warriors then. While some troops were farmers and peasants in whatever they could put together, FIGHTING men trained to fight. Coupled with the fact that in some periods it was the LAW to practice and that many other field sports and games were outlawed to enforce the practicing, whether they desired it or not is besides the point. Not to mention that once standards for skill were made into law, you practiced until you GOT that skill.
Also, Lars practiced for 3 years to get that technique. It didn't say how old he was, but even at 20 years old, he is still at least 10 years behind the training of historical archers.
