maces bonus on shields?

hey guys, i was watch some medieval documentations and i wanted to suggest that maces get a bonus on shields too due to their heavy weight and impact on shields. the bonus shouldnt be that extreme as its given by axes, but it still should be slightly notable. and also people could use a larger range of weaponary against shields, because then you woulndt only need an axe to finish a shielder...my suggestion, think about it

No, you deflect the blow so only a small part of the striking force has an effect on the shield.

I voted only some weapons.

Only if the weapon has no knockdown or crushtrough.

Were they used for breaking shields? I thought crushthrough was there to represent the shield user being overwhelmed by the weight of a mace.

No. Or yes, if you are going to make Steel Shield NOT suffer to such a bonus.

< Thinking >

No, definitly no. No bonus vs shields for maces and such, you have axes.

BTW, does anyone else wonder, why axe breaks Steel Shield faster than other weapons? o.0

Because axes can get through the Steel Shield's resistance, and it has lower HP than a lolskarl for an example.

yes they were used to crush shields..not many shields could resist a long time to that impcat.

You could not be MORE historically incorrect, blunt weapons are the worst thing you can use against a shield.

Blunt weapons became more common place to counter mail/ring/scale armor which protects well against slashing weapons.  Blunt weapons are used to break human bones inside armor or BEHIND a shield (hence them getting crushtru).  Versions like flanged mace/morning star used to penetrate plate armor with their spikes.

Blunt weapons do little to any harm damage to the shields themselves.  In fact if this game wanted to be more realistic, there would be more crushthru and 1/2 dmg to shields with blunt weapons.

Try and break down your front door with a Louisville Slugger and tell me how well that works compared to a Firemans Axe

Indeed, Blunt weapons cause Trauma that does damage to the body under the armour, leaving it intact while the victim will suffer blunt trauma, or have some broken bones.

Against shields, you need at least spikes as big as the MS.
