shielder build questions

Hi,

I'm new to this mod and so far I love it, I'm currently playing 1h + shield with a Long Espada Eslavona. I will retire soon and since I fucked up a bit my original build, I would like to get advices on my future character :).

Currently I'm playing 18 str 18 agi but I really lack of power so here is what I tend to do:

    * Strength: 24
    * Agility: 15
    * Hit points: 59

    * Converted: 6
    * Ironflesh: 0
    * Power Strike: 8
    * Shield: 5
    * Athletics: 5
    * Riding: 0
    * Horse Archery: 0
    * Power Draw: 0
    * Power Throw: 4
    * Weapon Master: 4

    * One Handed: 141
    * Two Handed: 1
    * Polearm: 1
    * Archery: 1
    * Crossbow: 1
    * Throwing: 1

I like throwing in mellee versus 2h or shielders but do I really need WPF for it ? Also, will WM 4 be enough ?
Thanks for advices :).

I'm playing pure 1h + shield actually, mainly for low upkeep but it gets boring sometimes and I just would like to have another option in certain situations.

Better would be to remove the PT and put 1 more in WM + the rest in IF.

24/15

3 IF
8 PS
5 Shield/Athletics/WM

~150 wpf in 1h

The problem is even if you are number 1 in NA you are still only number 467 in EU or the worst in AUS(number 17)

I think going 21/15 would be more balanced. Going 24/15 on a 1h+thower requires too many converted skillpoints. Either drop throwing like Spawny says or go 21/15:
(click to show/hide)
Decide for yourself wether to go 0 wpf thrower or put some points in there for extra accuracy.

Despite what all others can say "ad hominem", this is true nevertheless.

with zero ironflesh, you will realize you die quickly. So i recommend you not to give any pt skill. Here is my current build;

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 21
Agility: 15
Hit points: 70
Converted: 2
Ironflesh: 7
Power Strike: 7
Shield: 5
Athletics: 5
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 5

One Handed: 146
Polearm: 6

Equip also a pike, awlpike, or a long awlpike instead of throwing weapons. It will give you advantage against cavalary

He is right. Here is what I think about common builds:

18/18 :  Weak in strike, too much usage of agi points on shield, athletics and etc. Go for it if you are a ninja
21/18: Too much converted points, you waste them instead of using them for ironflesh or so: you die pretty quick
24/15: Too much converted points again, and again you die quickly. And your damage only increases about 4 points or so.
21/15: If you give your points like the way Reyiz said, then you have a descent 1h+shield character. Rest of your success depends on your ability to fake your attacks and chambering.

Also I still could not observe the speed difference between 1 handed weapon proficiency of 5 WM vs. 6 WM. Also there's only 1-2 points of increase in your attacks when you have full 6WM based proficiency. Therefore I stick with 21 str and 15 agi.

And I forgot to mention that, carrying a pike with you always increases your chances to survive on an open field against cavalry. Keep it hidden till the last few seconds and ta taaaaaa ! you see the cavalry guy shit his pants and die a horrible death among you and your cohort hungry teammates :)

+1 to Reyiz for bringing up the subject ;)

Hum... I suggest you deliver us your timing secrets, I find it extremely difficult to show your pike not too soon and still be able to attack with it. I was never able to do that against sarranid horses.

Ok, I might have exaggerated it a little bit :) But you got my point ;) Even showing your pike to your enemy and waving it in the air helps you scare them from a distance, which generally keeps you alive. I have not used the other pole arms, but as the pike is hidden when sheathed, you can trick the cavalry on some occasions, mostly when whey are trying to escape from a group in front of you by passing beside you. Overall, I suggest a long pole arm for all 1h+shield builds.

my last shielder was really fun.
27/12
9ps
4ath
4shield
4wm
2 extra points

very strong and with 4ath didnt seem slow to me especially with light armor

with the 2 extra points i did powerdraw because i wanted to masterwork my shortbow.
but you could do 2IF
i actually got quite a few kills using the shortbow even with only 2ps and barely any wpf
just use it for naked people and to interupt crossbow reloads while moving toward them
also got a lot of lucky headshots. the lower bows need less wpf to be accurate
