double sided lance is so much short and slow.
the only one reason for double sided lance is couchable ,
but the damage of couch lance is nerf a lot now.
so should it be buff double sided lance ?
maybe increase 2 speed or 3 blunt damage ?
It looks like more wide and thick than warspear and red tassel spear , and should swing more hurt.

It's a specialized spear when you want to maximize the hurt, and 93 speed is actually very fast when stabbing. If you can get up close with it, you can usually 1-2 shot people.

Oohilac uses this weapon very well.

I always considered the ashwood spear to be the replacement for using an awlpike with a shield, but it's not sheathable.

I never could justify using the double sided lance.  I'll speed or length any day over raw damage.

True dat, seems like that's what the balance team did with the heavy lance.  23p for a normal heavy lance? LOL...26p with the +3 isn't terrible, but the 23p for a non-loomed heavy lance is booty.

Yeah, the 35 length difference is a pretty minor difference and length is not at all important to a hoplite.

Double sided lance is a really crap weapon. It's a lot higher damage though than the spears but that reach is a big loss. Maybe nice for siege.

Not balancing off looms. A non-loomed double sided hits harder than almost every other spear out there. That is the point I was trying to make.

Again I say, short range, but explosive damage. 32 Damage base is almost as much or more than the majority of spears LOOMED.

Four attack directions, high damage, decent speed.

It's an amazing weapon if used on foot.  Ignore the "Lance" part in the name.

Shorter weapons mean stabs can be pulled off closer to the target with less need for sharp spins.  When I used it for a few hoplite generations, it was entirely possible to hold my own against one-handers and facehugging two-handers.

It is also less likely to be tangled up on teammates in large melee engagements.

I was being ironic because I thought that the statement that the double sided lance replaced the awlpike as a hoplite weapon was ridiculous because of the enormously important length difference.

I think it's meant as a short but hard-hitting lance for hoplites. And like oohillac wrote it's good for 1 vs 1 situations, cause this is where it's short lenght actually benefits the player.

Yea it's not a horse weapon.  Very good hoplite weapon though.  Kind of lost some magic with no pole stun.
