True Romance is a great movie (written but not directed by Quentin Tarantino), bonus Brad Pitt as a stoner

Another movie I really like that a lot probably haven't seen, is The Rules of Attraction, written by Bret Easton Ellis
(kind of a shitty trailer...but it's a really good movie):

My guilty pleasure is getting high and watching Belly (has a lot of good music, really good looking visuals/lighting, and it's a good "gangster" story).  I've heard people tear this movie apart, but I still think it's really good.

http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3485008153/ - trailer here

Also has one of my favorite opening scenes/music of any movie:

most beautiful story ever, awesome filming and godlike music. The grey took it's end theme from this movie. All the music from INK was made by the guy that also wrote the script and directed the movie.

i promise, you are gonna love this

so ya im a gaylord for loving movies that are magical and send out messages of good spirit and save the world blabla shit,  here's my ass,  have a go at it.  but:  i enjoyed every single movie I know from hayao miyazaki.  yesterday I saw nausicaa from the valley of winds.  again a great movie,  and it made me cry while sobbingly eating my protein bars:

Yes, I know from whence I came! Discontented as a flame, Upon myself I live and glow. All I grasp like lightning flashes, All I leave behind is ashes
Flame I am - that much I know!

nausicaa is cool, but the ending is for little kids, no way she should have survived.

If you like weird movies, watch Naked Lunch. Or Lost Highway, although I think this one might be a bit more commonly known.

Shaw shank redemption,

Would " The Road" be considered a "not popular movie"? It's based on Cormac Macarthury's amazing book of the same title.

I don't know how popular it was, but I thought it was a good movie,

Stephen King movies are all pretty bad (except Kubrick's Shining), you'd be better off reading the books.

We're all nerds here so I don't feel ashamed recommending movies by Studio Ghibli! If any of you have even a remote interest in anime then these are some pretty good movies to watch. Personally I have very little interest in anime and these are probably the only anime movies I have ever watched but I still love them. There's a whole catalog of movies by this studio, and you can find them all on Wikipedia. Out of all of them I would have to first recommend Howl's Moving Castle or Spirited Away.

These movies may not have the absolute best clarity and logical plot but they have some of the best atmosphere I've ever seen in an animated production, truly able to make you feel included. Every shot is like a Kubrick film with a ridiculous amount of stuff going on, I can only imagine how many Asian sweatshop slaves they use. Anyway heres a trailer for Howl's Moving Castle.

I actually find Princess Mononoke to be the best of them. I haven't seen them all yet, though, just that one, Howl's Moving Castle, Grave of the Fireflies, Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service.

See, I haven't seen that one yet. I suppose it will be next on my list of to-watch.
