I enjoy open maps , you can get an overview of what is happening. Ofc very handy when releasing arrows :) Hate the crowded citymaps and dense forrest. Can never tell friend from foe before it is to late.

Open maps need unique objects you can refer to.
The wooden bridge, the stone bridge, farmhouse.
Or if used properly just common things ..like the BIG tree, pond,cave entrance ... etc..

I would avoid making two large opposing hills in bowrange .. it only leads to camping and the epic shieldwall...

With some creative use of elevation and brushcover in the terrain, infantry should stand a better chance versus cav and ranged.
Make it possibly to move tactically, staying out of line of sight from enemy main force.(without putting up impassable tall walls.)
Usually its just totaly flat.. with slight elevations.

Oh and funnels are nice.. so that the two groups meet, and do not  run around in circles, but that is maybe more a crpgplayermentality thing ..not maprelated.

Brushcover is useless since greifers/baddies remove them by editing their gamefiles..

I've never played a server where people split up as much or as often as on EU1.  No wonder range is having a field day.

Objectives. Infantry is the best class for holding a position, but without objectives that ability is useless. Kiting becomes irrelevant if you don't have to kill the archers to win, and lancing is less effective if you don't have to constantly move your team around.

I personally like just a good balance between maps like open, city or town i dont think the community should go for a specific kind of maps but instead lots of maps with different attributes for different classes.

What i think is missing though is a lush forest map with so many bushes its hard to fight and so many trees its hard to walk but knowing this community i think it would not be very popular.

Less kiting archers and eez mode lancer cav. Oh wait, that would make me enjoy every map more.

I demand this man is promoted to Dev!

You bring nothing positive to any game server except making a nice easy target for cav and archers.

I wanted to say less archer and less cav but its a known problem. I miss the teamwork between random players in old days. None trying it anymore. We were making a shield wall with all shielders and bring siege shields if needed. Now its just ''attack the enemy which you see''  or ''charge directly''

Considering nearly every single map on the official battle servers is cav maps and that there are maps that give archers advantages, why aren't there maps that gives melee the advantage? I want maps that render range and cav semi-useless as there are maps where a melee is useless against kiting archers. I wan't the TUNA TOWN MAPS BACK! I WANT MY MELEE ONLY WEEKEND!

To start with, they should not be randomly generated as you can get fucked up hilly maps. There should just be a few implemented that are generated manually so there is no ridiculous terrain.

Most importantly, kiting should be removed.

Best way to improve open maps is to place huge castle in the middle and change objectives from killing enemy team to taking the flag.

Guess this is sarcasm. Yes they might not top the scoreboard often, today I saw one though, but the point is that they can not be dealt with as soon as you approach the end of a round. If there is 4 ranged left on one team, there is no combination of classes that could beat these 4 ranged when having 4 players themselves. The chance of ranged being left alive as the last ones is pretty big, especially if there are hills or campable roofs or they team up with other ranged.

That is horrible. Ask the Kapikulu with their names all in caps, they know best and are abusing it to its fullest.
