This shield will make any Agi 2h spammer brake his fist in fury or die of sleep starvation after futile attempts to take out your shield..

Have good cover like the elite cav shield plus it looks badass.

You can bitch all you want about the speed ratings on it but tbh i dont feel the difference and ive been using both the knightly heather/kite shield.. plus the elite cav shield..

Then again if you have shitload of shield skill like Kinngrimn i would go for the elite cav shield or Huscarl due to weight.

But with shield skill below 8 or 7 my favourite shield is the Plate covered round shield.

same here, with 4 shield skill i prefer this 1, in fight you will not see any difference between plate covered and elite cav shield, but only situation when i will see the difference is after kick, when with elite cav you can put block up and with plate covered allmost 100% you will take a hit. just avoid kick situations and then you will love plate covered shield.

Why not the heavy round instead ? Better speed, larger, same resistance. You just can't use it on horse.

Ehmn.... not true did a test with phase on the duel server.

Heavy round shield vs Plate covered round shield.

Heavy round shield could take 8/9 hits from hes Danish while the plate covered round shield could take 18/19 hits

That was unloomed imagine how much the extra 53 hp does to the plate covered round shield in terms of hits once you +3 it.

Just saying.... 

But if you have a good amount of shield skill then i would pick the heavy round shield.

arbalest shot can hit usually thru heavy round shield, and like tzar said npt so cool vs nonshieldbreaking weapons.

75 vs 84 stock speed....75 is terrible and means you end up dying ALOT when you THINK shield SHOULD be up and really isnt.  such a slow shield limits the amount of aggressive and counter-attack play you can do

In some EU siege last strat, this was me. I had just started losing health as indicated by the shield icon. <3 healing tents.

75 and 84 allmost no difference, you can see difference only between 75 and 100, and only in blocking after kicked, with 75 you can be agressive same as with 100 speed.

you could not be more wrong.  only way of making them even close is getting like 8+ shield skill, which means you're an overall gimp in combat.
Looks like you dont know that the shield animation has nothing to do with shield speed

+1  to the elite cav shield.  I really like it for the speed, and with 5 shield skill it takes quite a beating.  Unless shielder breaker of course, but if they have a shield breaker you should put your shield up anyway.

To add to the discussion of shield speed, I started disliking the high-armor slow-speed shields after realizing how often I would die when going up against many opponents. Sure, in duel the speed isn't nearly as important but when you're getting gang-raped and trying to back up until you can get some other team members you learn to really like that speed.
