My favorite shield. 

The knightly heater shield is my favorite shield of all, only requires 4 shield skill, and has a very high body armor.  The Elite Cav Shield is good on foot, but terrible for cavalry lancers who use first person view when thrusting (like me), it covers too much of your screen when not blocking.

I always overlooked it, but the knightly kite shield might be better than the knightly heater...2 less body armor (31), like 20 more HP, and it's 66 width vs 55 for the knightly heater shield....hmm

Currently using the Knightly kite shield, very good al around.
I prefer usually the heavy round shield, but it is unusable on horseback.
About the plate covered round shield, it is good, but you have to completely avoid shieldbreakers, which is a minus for me, plus for a big ping player like me, the speed difference makes me incline towards the other ones

Steel shield was fun while I had one at +3. You could just stand there in front of as many archers, xbows, and throwers as you wanted and just use the voice command "[ S ]hoot!" over and over. Even lasted 3-5 hits against the really expensive poleaxes.

I also like the way the plain/heavy kite shield looks with a spear.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far

In some EU siege last strat, this was me. I had just started losing health as indicated by the shield icon. <3 healing tents.

Huseby, you misread the height of the Knightly Kite and Heater Shields as their width. The Heater has 25 width to the Kite's 23, which arguably makes the Heater superior for those fighting on foot thanks to shield width being a factor in the equation that checks against hitstun as well as protecting you from greatswords trying to swing around your shield.

While what you say is true, the height is a big help against arrows directed at your feet, and imo those 11 height avoid a lot of feet shots, and it more than compensates for the 2 less width
