While what you say is true, the height is a big help against arrows directed at your feet, and imo those 11 height avoid a lot of feet shots, and it more than compensates for the 2 less width

Except shield size counts for jack shit when it comes to head/feet hit. It all depends on the shieldskill.

A guy with 4 and a heater shield is easier to hit the feet on than a guy with 8 and a buckler. Sad, but true.

True that, but for a build with a given amount of shield skill, say 6, if you choose between both, the bigger one will always cover at least a bit more.
Of course for 8+ shield skill the forcefield is large enough to cover your whole body with almost every shield
Also I think that the smaller a shield is the more it benefits from the forcefield, not sure though

I think my next favorite will be the Elite cav shield. But knightlies are good.
I don't know what to think about the plate covered as I'm not sure about the speed real influence.

At level 3, the kite shield is the best.

Mithril_Soul has a +3 Green Practice shield, that he rarely equips. Just the fact that he would loom a practice shield intimidates me so much that I always die to him.

I don't play a primarily shield-based build, but I figured I'd throw my thoughts in anyhow.

I like the style of most of the kite shields, most are fairly large and display heraldry pretty well, unlike the heater shields (Except maybe the small heater shields). Round shields in general are also pretty good, basic but effective. Board shields make good tower shields that would be awesome in a shield wall but I don't see many people using them anymore, and I don't particularly blame them when you have things like the huscarl shield available.
