I personally think this development of trends is unsurprising, long stabbing weapons are a response to the increasing cav numbers (whom I recently joined), but they just so happen to be extremely effective against infantry as well. I think a small tweak needs to be done about that, to keep it viable but not "too" viable if you know what I mean.
Flamberges were designed to cut the pikes in two, sadly this feature does not exist so we need some form of natural counter for the pikes. Maybe we should give weapons with bonus against shield a chance to either continously (still chance based) stun or permanently break pikes and long spears. Sort of lock them down, you know?
I don't know, but I do think the pike family needs some natural counter.
