Archery - High athletics vs 0 athletics

I don't have anything against running archers. That's how they should play if they can (have the athletics).
The stupid ones are those melee guys who ends up dying after they failed to catch an archer they were chasing and then complain about running archers on the forums.

Something else that annoys me is archers who have the athletics but get convinced to duel some melee guy late round and lose.
This melee "hero" obviously have the upper hand and the archer usually loses. Stop that. Just run and shot him and enjoy the gratitude of your teamates for not losing the round instead of the opposite.
The melee guy deserves it for not having a shield or more running speed than you. Also, if he had played the round differently he would not have ended up in a bad situation like that.
He could have prioritized killing ranged earlier in the round but he kept on going for easy kills to boost his score.

What about playing as an archer with 0 athletics?

Then you can get one of the following instead of ~7 athletics (15/21 build, 18/21 build, 21/21 build):
- 3 STR and 1 PD
- 3 AGI and 1 WM
- Max out PS

But it's very hard to team up with players or even keep up with the main group with only 0 athletics.
7 athletics is truly "easy mode" for an archer as you can play around with anyone. Look at ROBINHOOD for example.

Has anyone successfully played archer without athletics?

I cant think of any archer with low running speed. The most successful ones have maxed out athletics.

However I wanted to give 0 athletic arhery a chance.
Is it possible or hopeless?

Discuss.

Shik plays similar to 0 athletics...10PS, shit WPF, shoots an unaimed rocket launcher.  Terribly hates it from what I know, he's level 33 I think (on NA)

I love how most EU players insert an imaginary "f" into my name: Winterfly.

Yeah I can imagine.

I remember when I had a full str build (just 3 agility and 1 athletics) for a melee character.
Most boring character I've played yet.

I like speed and that's also why I like being a lancer so I will probably not stick with 0 athletics forever.
Just wanted to hear what everyone thinks about 0 athletic archery. Viable or not.

When he comes back on, I'll direct him to this thread so he can share his thoughts...not guaranteed.

Cav player on archer alt after 2 maps = huge post of "enlightenment"

Hehe

I guess I have played dedicated foot archer for around 20 million in total and 10 million as HA.

Also, playing alongside archers or killing them (and I have killed a lot) also gives experience.

My bad than... I saw you as cav every time, and you were ranting on the server a bit as archer, so I thought...

Np, not easy to know as all of my other alts are "anonymous".
I plan on changing that though. Problem is I need to retire them first which takes some time... :)

Why not go 27/15.

9 PD, 146WPF and 3 Athletics.

Youre not totally immobile, you still hit like a .50 and its a bit more accurate.

EDIT: Holy crap, looking at the calculator with MW Longbow and MW Bodkins my level 31 main would get 1 shot nearly every time by this. :|

It is basically being able to survive vs being able to do more damage. teaming up is hard in the public servers, but it is extremely easy in strat battles where archers are the most effective. I personally would say closer to balance is better, but that is my taste. Like others have stated the 0 athletics also means 1 wpf, which will make you extremely unaccurate. So you with high str you will do massive damage but hit maybe 1 in 5. With somewhere near balance you will hit 1 for 2 typically, and be able to outrun people.

Wolves Sebastian plays with 0 ath and 10PD.

it is a lie, he is lvl 35 if im right , he has 30/15 build thats sure , and he has atleast 3 ath how i remember.
shooting at people from a reachable place as last man standing is not delaying. Even if you're on the other side of the map.
