I highly recommend padded armor and a low tier weapon to grind gold, I made like 12k in 2 hours like that

Agree.I think this is predicted reaction of people,they had everything and now they are losing it.I earned 20 000 today wearing good stuf,call it luck if you want,but I know some good players with same situation,they are gaining gold extremely fast.And finaly I got desire to win every round because I dont want to lose my stuf.

The upkeep system is completely random and more then one piece can break per loss. It IS luck, it's a 3% chance per item with each loss.

Wait until you lose a game and lose some gold, then this repeats for a few rounds. Losing all your money is luck based unless you win every game. Eventually your number will come up and you will undo your last 15 wins.

As with all random sequences, they sort of balance each other as you approach infinity. My suggestion would be to keep a sizeable gold buffer to combat temporary variance... but it really does seem (to me) after about 5 hours or so of playing that upkeeping about 20k of gear is completely feasible.

Played all morning and most of afternoon (like.. 10 hour straight) with 15~23k worth equipment on and made ~50k profit, if not more..

Oh, and I'm one of those squishy archers.. only had couple of maps with 5x rolling whole map and getting to top 5 on team. :s
