loginCount of Vermandois, the heir of Charlemagne and only Karling ruler present at the start of the game.
AAR: From one small county I was able to secure the Duchy of Poitou for my son in my final years, with a few assasinations and timely deaths along the way, i died a maimed cripple in my bed.
On succession i ensured that my grandson would receive a fine education from the kings Chancellor, i also arranged for my sons marriage to a young daughter of the new king, i began create a court rich with talented individuals although my spy master was somewhat lacking, i passed quietly in my bed.
On succession the realm faced a brief succession crisis, with the king passing on without a child. It passed to his brother who fought off an attempt from their uncle, i saw that the crown was weak and began to plan. My son became the chancellor for the new king, but i died of the pox soon after.
On succession i became the kings chancellor and soon the regent for his son who succeeded him. The carpet family was weak, although they had expanded greatly into the Iberian peninsular they had alienated many of the lords of France. I saw that this was the right time to act, using my influence as the regent and chancellor of France i created a faction seeking to see me instituted as King. I gathered all but 2 of the lords of France behind me and the war was quick. I allowed the young prince to live out his days in the duchy of Mallorca which the Carpet family happily held for many generations.
My son was married to the queen of Lothargia, he saw over years of holy war in the Levant and Iberia.
His son was known as the ironside, he launched an invasion of the Holy Roman empire, reclaiming our families lost inheritance. I created many kingdoms and conquered many more. Ensuring that my family members came to positions of power. I placed the crowns of Bavaria, Germany and Bohemia on the heads of my kin. I waged war from Africa to Scandinavia and from Sicily to Scotland.
On succession i married to the daughter of the Hungarian King and helped him to hold back the advances of the Byzantine empire before ensuring my sons succession to the Hungarian throne.
A few generations later i sought the reconquest of Poland from the Mongol horde, and liberated the the Balkans from the Byzantine empire.
On my most recent succession i have launched campaigns in Russia and Lithuania, as well as further expanding my borders in the middle east.
After this I got myself in line for Byz throne and added that to my holdings. Just left papacy and some steppe hordes / Arab minors which I never got around to taking.
Couple of civil wars but as every single monarchy in my empire was held by a dyeasty member I ensured continual play. Independence factions never got big enough to beat my huge retinue and massive levies.
I don't know how this would work in the latest version, this was before they released Old God's and I am guessing they've played around with a lot of the balancing and faction play since then.
Also I think almost everyone of my rulers had the dwarf trait which makes the whole thing far more amusing to imagine :p
