Armor names

My suggestion is to give the Japanese armor proper names.

Doesn't have to be in Japanese, but something of an english/Euromy old friend translation of the Japanese name, or just something appropriate, like "Japanese Lamellar armor" for the Heavy and Medium armor, and "Japanese Leather Lamellar armor" for the light. Would be better than "Heavy Strange armor" etc.

Quote
Jap armour developed enormously over the centuries since its introduction to the battlefield. It was worn to varying degrees by numerous classes; most notably by the samurai (and by default the ashigaru), and was seen on the battlefield both on mounted and foot troops. The pinnacle of Jap lamellar armour is generally accepted as being the ō-yoroi (大鎧?, literally 'great armour') type.

Light O-Yoroi
O-Yoroi
Heavy O-Yoroi.

Alternatively:

Quote
During the Heian period 794 to 1185 the Jap cuirass evolved into the more familiar style of armour worn by the samurai known as the dou or .
Quote
Bullet resistant armours were developed called tameshi gusoku or (bullet tested) allowing samurai to continue wearing their armour despite the use of firearms.

O-Yoroi
Dou
Tameshi Gusoku

Yeah, but the armor ingame aren't OYoroi, they're Domaru, but we all know the Euro-centric C-rpg community would blow a gasket if we use J.a.p.a.n.e.s.e. names, So an english translation or appropriate name would have to do.

In fact it's so bad, that they've made it so it automatically changes the word "J.a.p.a.n.e.s.e." to "weeaboo"

Only non-weeaboos can spell "japanese" properly.

You mean they actually took the time, to go through every single member, with a liking for J.a.p.a.n.e.s.e. culture, and change it so that every time they write "J.a.p.a.n.e.s.e." it changes it to "weeaboo"?

That's pretty pathetic

Japanese

Huh, must not be a weaboo.

The name change would make sense if the game were set in an asian area; but it isn't.  I don't even think the weapons should have been changed from "strange sword" etc to katana etc.  "Strange" fits the Japanese gear in this mod well.

Nothing against Japan by the way.

Yeah if anything I would've thought they would have classified you as a weeaboo, just by going on your avatar. Guess you dodged a bullet there.
Or have you come up with some secret technique?

But this isn't Native Mount and Blade. C-rpg is all about Variety, diversity and the ability to create your own unique warrior, according to whatever culture you want.
So I don't see why there should be any problem with giving non-western armor an appropriate name.

I mean by this logic, they might as well change all Eastern gear to "Strange [insert name here]" be it Mongolian/Khergit, Japanese, Saracens, Chinese, Sarranid, Korean,
and all Western gear to "Normal [insert name here]"

The thing is, Mount and Blade doesn't have Japanese/Asian factions. The 5 different factions have their own styled armors.

I guess by that logic, the Western armor ingame, should be changed to "Small-minded" armor

I dunno what they're really called, I just did a quick google search on japanese armour names and shoved in a couple that sounded appropriate.

As for japanese to *censored*, sorry, my fault.

Also, warband has 6 factions, not 5.

Khergit = Mongol

I agree though, but why would they change the strange weapons have proper japanese names while the japanese armors are called strange armors
