Agreed, but there should be one a bit more stronger than the rest. That one would be:

Zendar.

There's no big field battles, only clans taking towns from AI which is quite gimped. There hasn't even been a proper war in a long time because the damned economics makes fighting too expensive.

Wars and battles still goes on. Recently the fighting between Crusader alliance and Druzhina/UIF in the Dhirim area (And more). And those were grand battles, some of them in the field.

As to the idea: Interesting, but depends a lot on the result. This would also change the game from being strictly PvP to slightly PvE.

Great idea, would make Strat far more interesting for those who doesn`t belong to a big faction,
they could fight for the AI and have decent gear too.

I also think a bit of random factor wouldn`t be too bad, at least a try would be nice.

This might be hard to implement, but I believe it would be worth it, for a more interesting Strategus.

The size of these armies could perhaps be scaled to fit the expansion of the clans, early phase of Strat = smaller bands, later stage when everyone has big armies & lots of resources = 1k+ armies (you want them to be challenging but not to ruin the game for someone  ). Oh and the frequency of such "events" should be set to a perfect medium so they occur sometimes but not too often.
