I started a new native singleplayer campaign and here are my thoughts.
- We need better AI prioritizing. If one enemy walks by my army while there are like 50 other enemies right in front of them most of them will turn around and chase after him.
- Better hitboxes, not much with player models but with trees and other things.
- The animations are ok imo.
- More options for running your kingdom, a lot more. ( I have diplomacy )
- Lords can be killed but they can have a lot of sons to replace them after a few days or a week.
- Kings can be overthrown and you can become ruler of that kingdom, but you have to fight the lord's still with the king and take their lands. Requires a lot of support and other circumstances, might be better off just starting your own kingdom.
- It would be nice to have battle formations, and let smart tactics a actually work out well.
- Sieges should have more options. WFAS kinda touched on it though but not by much.
- Starting locations should be better in sieges when you are attacking, sometimes I spawn so far away my men get raped by ranged and my reinforcements arrive too late.
- Better dynamic reinforcement spawning for siege defense, so that the enemies don't keep spawning on top of your guys.
- Better mix of units in a battle. It's usually like first wave is mediocre, second is ok, third is ok, rest are all high tier troops. To me when I bring my kingdom's army to a siege when we attack we bring a mix of good troops and they get crappier the more reinforcements we get. But the enemy gets better and better the more you kill, it's really annoying.
- Make a cavalry charge actually seem scary, usually it's just oh they charged and then all the cavalry stops in place just swinging at the troops.
- A better morale system would be nice.
- Stop the AI from facehugging all the time. If there are more than two enemies of you in a small place you can barely swing.
- The most annoying problem I have playing Warband has to do with a part in siege. If i'm sieging a castle/town and just won the walls it still says you have to fight them in the streets, not a big problem but it can be difficult. But the worst part is when it says "the remaining enemies have retreated to the keep", now this is the part that can make you lose a siege. They only give you two allies who are most likely crappy troops versus five or six of their best troops, and usually you will have really really low health since you just fought for the streets and walls. It's like I have 800 men remaining they have 10 left but I can only bring two with me into the keep to help me beat the last few left.........and if I lose in the keep or streets I lose the siege..........really!
- More armors and weapons!
- Better battlefields!
- Graphics are actually very nice looking at max, no need to improve them really, especially since even high end pc's have trouble with 400 man battles with max settings.
- Better commands to your troops in battle.
- More voice actors but not like something where everyone talks in Skyrim, the text thing is ok I guess, just different people yelling and saying random things now and then would be nice to hear.
- Better more epic ambient and battle sounds. Better sounds overall!
- Smarter AI commanders.
- Smarter troops AI where they actually choose which direction to swing ( may not be possible ). Troops can actually re-mount their horses, stab properly and get in range and swing properly.
