Ah okay, not counting the Corrazhina, and Churburg. But why wouldn't you count them? They seem pretty much like Plate armor to me. How do you define Plate armor?

Well, still would be an upgrade over current jap armors. So +1 for a replacement.

Corrazina are coats of plates, not plate armor. There's a difference.

I included churburg, I just... forgot about it the first time :/

Plate armor's anything where a whole plate of metal covers up the chest.
Important thing being that its a single plate, not a lot of small plates imbeed in leather, like the coat of plate, or the corrazina and not mail armor with plated arms and legs like the trantionnal armor (which is erm... the transition between mail armor and plate)

Edit: Black armor's actually 3/4 plate armor, not full plate, since it doesn't cover the arms.

I didn't know the Japanese used chainmail as an armor in its own right, always thought it was just an undercoat for their Lamellar armor, to cover the gaps

Well, I'm a little unclear as to whether they did or not.  I've seen sources which state that mail was only used to keep lamellar plates together as opposed to silk, but then I've also seen sources which show different articles of armor (maybe used under lamellar, but it might even not have been) which are actually called 鎖具足 (kusari gusoku, lit. chain armor.)  Whether or not it was used in battle in a period contemporaneous to the general timeline of the game (which is what? 7th cent. C.E. to mid-17th cent. C.E.?) I still don't know, and the only source I have for samurai wearing chain is one photo of some 19th century samurai on Wikipedia, which means I need to do more research I obviously know everything there is to know about Japanese mail.

Haven't found enough to reliably say samurai wore kusari, might do some more looking, might not.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I don't think C-rpg has a distinct timeline. Yeah I've heard of the Silk clothing worn under armor, it was supposed to trap arrows, and is considered the prototype/inspiration for Kevlar.

It may have been that, that chainmail the 19th Century Samurai was wearing in the photo was an imported European armor. It was known that some J.a.p.a.n.e.s.e. imported European plate armor, though I don't think it was used on a wide scale or mass produced. Just something the more wealthy Samurai could afford to do, so maybe some Chainmail could have been imported as well

I read that they were quick to copy the beast plate of the first Portugese who they first had contact with, however the copy wasn't as good as the original, due to the poor quality of iron, and therefore of the steel.

replace the current black ones with this, keep the current red one - I've always thought it was way better than others.

and yes chinese ones too plz

what we need is chinese armors, it's always japan, japanese samurais and ninjas, getting a bit sick of this shit:

why not both? yeah theres SO many japanese items... what 10 items? and theres almost as many chinese items already FYI

According to the Onin no Ran team, it's a pretty accurate J.a.p.a.n.e.s.e. armor. More accurate than the current J.a.p.a.n.e.s.e. armor and the original Native ones.

The only problem is the shininess.

And Yeah Banok there's loads of J.a.p.a.n.e.s.e. gear, especially if you compare it to the amount of European gear we have

I wouldn't call his clumsy stomping "to run around", but otherwise you are mostly correct.

mygod those chinese armors are awesome, would love to see crpg expand its boarders evenmore, fuck the narrowminded simpletons hating on diversity. only prob is alot of old gear will just be outshined by the new textures. but imo we should be able to live with that. the weaboo replacement is defnetly a +

Dev clearly said that there will never going to be anymore Japanese shit, the community dislike the weaboo shit (Check the thread of removal of strange armor), ask the dev if you want to know the answer, doubt they will answer back though
