Weight/Health Thread.

No, I am not trying to sell/advertise anything at the end, only want to share my experiences.

Now that I made it clear, let's get to the point.

Last Winter, at around January/February, I decided that I am just way too overweight, and I'll have to change it as soon as possible.

I am not really a tall guy, about 170 centimeters tall, quite normal I'd say.
Now, My weight was 103 kilos. You could expect how living like that feels. You suck at everything, stuff like that.

I remembered how much I used to run like.. five years ago. I did 3 km runs without stopping, and I wanted to do the same again. It was so demoralizing to see that I couldn't run/jog for more than 30 seconds without almost dropping.

So, I started pushing it until I could, I set up smaller distances for quick sprinting, and progress was slowly made.
I decided to do it like in Stronghold; Half Rations. 50% smaller plates. It had it's effect later; I am full with WAY less food right now,
if I'd try to eat my older sized meals, I.. just couldn't do it, haha :)

So right now in June, after semi-serious training and stuff, I am 88 kilos, that means.. 15 kg lost already! I can wear more clothes, and I'm already way more confident.

But there is still a ton of work to do, the ideal weight I'm aiming for is something like from 75-80. Getting that would be time consuming, but I'm in the right way.

Question is, does anyone of you have similar problems, or got around and got back in track again? Don't be ashamed.
You only need your own will, I don't trust trying to get it like all systematical at first, that will come with it later.

Okay, thanks for reading.

Cigs mess you up. I just couldn't get addicted to them, the smoke I get from friends and when in a closed area filled with people is bad enough.

Anyway I was never against smokers, I'm not hating them or anything. Maybe even smoke one on a rare occasion, if I feel like it.

We can quit together Warlord. And I'm in exactly the same boat as you except I'm about 10cm taller but with the same weight. I'm not sure we can relate with having to lug around 25 kilos but at this point I could definitely be healthier.
And how!

I've gone down to ~150 pounds from 234 in 2 years. Need to work on building muscle now I think, just been trying to lose the fat.

I had written out quite a long post before but it disappeared. Without getting into too much detail this time this is how it worked for me:

Researched calories. Set a goal of about 1500 a day. You need your own calorie goal really, some websites might help out there
Cut out alcohol completely. (Look into it, its pretty bad for weight loss)
Drink loads of water, always have some on hand
Never skip meals, always eat breakfast
Started exercise 8 months or so after the initial weight loss, just walking the dog 5 days a week. Developed that into incorporating jogging, and now its mostly jogging with a little walking before and after the jog
Cut out nearly all snacks. Just have meals instead. You can have snacks its just if you have regular meals you might find you don't need them. Helps if you find some fruit you particularly like
Set routine each day. Similar meals, similar time to go jogging, start the jogging at same physical point and end at exactly same place

I think the most important thing is developing a routine you feel comfortable with, setting some calorie goal and incorporating some exercise. If you do too much too soon you might burn out and give up completely. Just getting some basic routines in place might be enough, then build from there. Same with eating, target specific things you think you can cut out or replace with other stuff, and have proper meals. Starving and skipping meals just makes your body store fat or you end up eating more later.

Suuure, now just tell us that you've got a pair of eyes blue as the sky and beautiful blond hair as well. If you lived during the WWII you'd make a highly ranked Wehrmacht officer even tho you're Slovenian.

But what i wanted to say was this: Holy mother of Christ(o), 170cm/103kg.......you used to be a tank, man. Now i understand why you're so unique....there's simply no room for another one like yourself.  Even Chuck Norris would have to hit you twice to knock you down.
Do you honestly think you have any sort of moral authority, Reyiz? Go genocide some more armenians and deny it ever happened, please, and stay in the middle east.
