[GAME MODE] Hardcore / Realism game mode

A hardcore gamemode with its own dedicated server would be a multi-purpose addition, and it would filter out all the people complaining about unrealistic aspects of the game and thusly make the community more harmonious. But aside from all that nonsense that nobody gives a crap about, here are some more concrete suggestions for such a gamemode:

-Less forgiving, as in merciless
-Bleeding
-Plate armours give deflection chance to arrows and cut but cripple mobility and swing speed
-Horses will knock you dead cold if speed is high enough
-No healthbar, no HUD/GUI(goes without saying)
-Struck limbs are rendered useless, depending on damage of course(so if you get shot in the leg, you are most likely dead)
-Pikes and spears(only) get a significant damage boost to horses
-Logical mortality(self-explanatory)
-Crossbows penetrate armour
-Crossbows are significantly slower to reload
-Stamina
-Shields are invulnerable to ranged except for throwing axes
-Damage is neutral, does not discriminate teammates
-Only teamchat
-High falls break legs, permanent penalty to athletics for the round
-Forced 1st person(optional)
-Remove ability to view surroundings with tilde key

There are probably more ways to make something fully relentless and "hardcore", but the keyword is unforgiving.

No. It would be too hard to code all that shit.

Why you guys hating? I think it would be very interesting though not really realistic in terms of work related to it to implement. Would be nice to see how it would work in terms of game play, probably not that well to be honest. Still since this game is pretty much the best you have for medieval multiplayer melee combat simulator it would be nice. I'd just die to get a chance to go in a plate and laugh at all the dumb kuyak club members swinging at me with their DGS.

-Shields are invulnerable to ranged except for throwing axes

Actually one of the purposes of throwing spears/pilum from roman times/etc was to render shields unusable. Naturally, metal shields are unlikely to get penetrated.

Other than that, +1, would like.

Also corpses cause damage (eg. stabbing a horse in the face while charging at you with a short weapon would be an epically bad idea). And unarmoured horses much less resistant to arrows/bolts (a high-powered shot from a crossbow at close ranges is very likely to incapacitate a horse).

Also, less silly footwork (S-key heroism in particular) and especially jumping.

Realistic armour effects, with mail already quite resistant to slashing damage (esp. from lighter 1h weapons). Light crossbows cut damage. Effectiveness of ranged weapons on unarmoured people increased, and decreased on unarmoured people.

Would play. Also pikes/spears reworked so you can't stab someone with the side of the pike, only the point counts.

There is a balance between fun and realism. To some extent, realism enhances the fun, this hardcore mode wouldn't.

-Plate armours give deflection chance to arrows and cut but cripple mobility and swing speed
Realistically, plate barely has a negative affect on your mobility. The well crafted suits of armor that were available in the 15-16th century basically had no drawbacks apart from their price.

You know when posting this that its never going to happen, so what exactly is the point?

I think it would be fun. Although there is a problem with a very wide range of equipment, with latter-age equipment being naturally superior (high power crossbows, full plate, greatswords and poleaxes). Perhaps restricting gear to a set time period (eg up to 1300 or so) would make it more "balanced", while still being realistic.

I'm aware of plate armours acting pretty much like second skin to a trained warrior.

And the reason for this suggestion is more of an indulgence than an expectation.

Besides, I think if the devs read this they might put in on their to-do list over the next year or two, so who knows?

Better just make battle royale kind of gamemode. Make a huge map with forests, mountains and shit like that... And give everyone hammer or wooden swords and toss them in. Last one to survive wins like a boss.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far

It's not a gamemode that's meant to be balanced.  8-)

Whatever, it's not like my expectations are high.

Also remove friendly banners. If it's a friend, his name will show up when he's close enough and you aim at him. Otherwise, you must observe the battle to decide who is friend and who is foe.

Seriously try it once, it's pretty great. Much more immersive without all those gaudy baubles floating around.

How the hell would you do that?

Especially with all the kuyak clone army guys out there.

It is doable and a must for this mode. I tried to play without friendly banners a long time ago, very irritating at first but you'll get used to it.

Problem is if you can enforce it because it is now a client-side setting?
