See the spikes down to 0 for some of the items?  It's because no loom was sold on that day...it's not all doom and gloom, you have to look at the average over a few days. 

It looks like the prices have been slowly coming down, but hard to say when only 1 or 2 looms in a group (+1, +2 or +3) are sold on a given day.

Panic selling everything based on a 3-day break in market transactions is still a fairly risky move though. Maybe everyone already has most of what they want?

Well to be realistic for a second, prices still continue to drop and no doubt they'll continue to drop in the future.
It will probably also be made easier to level in the future, plus there's high level retirement bonuses coming in, all of that diminish the worth of current items and loom points (Which is good though).

If you sell off all your additional assets, e.g. that which you do not use and then hoard the gold, you will in the future be able to most likely triple your amount of assets.

Real reason behind it are gold sinks.

Think about it, before gold had only one way to be used: for trading looms.

Now you can spend gold on loom points, lottery, title of nobility, exclusive banners, training, blacksmith services, other auctions...

Which makes the poor poorer and the rich richer (unless they're careless).

Don't spend your gold and wait for everyone to be dirt poor and you'll be able to snatch up all the auctions/trades at an extremely low cost.

There's always a chance of a 'government' intervention though, austerity measures and what not to artificially bork the market which would derail this plan

Maybie. But you are very stupid if you think that ppl will give their looms for lower price. Instead of selling for gold ppl will only trade items.
I would like more if there was some limitation to trading so ppl like baby wold couldn't buy danish or german greatsword for 1milion and sell it for 1300k or more almoust every day. He is getting very,very rich.
Or even better offers on market are danish greatsword for arablest and 50k,then same person post offer arablest for some other item + gold,but in the end he will post arablest for danish and 50k. Traders have so many looms that in the end you need to go and buy same item from them.
They control the market with big ammounts of items.
50k here,50-100k there,buy some item very cheap and woila you can be very rich. I see retarded offers like +3arabian warhorse for +3 destrier or nordic champ for scimitar accepted all the time in market.

The tax is bad as you don't see how much you have to pay for real. I bought a +2 a few days ago and was surprised to pay the tax. It's written nowhere that you have to pay tax

To be honest, this game has no gold sinks other than the tax. And every single player playing is being given gold at regular intervals. Of course the market is going to crash.

Price and inflation don't matter as long as there is market activity. 
If there is no profit to be gained, there will be less activity and things will stagnate. 

Because of this, players that aren't interested in making a profit are having a hard time as well.  It's getting harder and harder to trade an item and try new looms.
