Would play this over DayZ

By the time this comes out DayZ will have had a year and a half to become a full game rather than a struggling mod.

Necro-bump!

This thing is in beta... and i am in! :D

Currently it only has a single gamemode, something akin to CTF, but you have to find artifacts or whatever and bring them to your base. You buy items and stuff outside of battles and can customize yourself, with gear from one of four factions, that you gain reputation with by completing some missions for them. Supposedly there will be something called Freeplay later this year, could that be the MMO part?

Had one game so far, with a PPSh, and was quite pleasantly surprised - for a game that's still very early in development, the FPS aspect of it is working very well! Had no performance issues, netcode seems to be fine at this stage, and the firing mechanics are very nice! Guns have serious recoil, that is a bit difficult to control. Definitely not one of those games where you can just spray full-auto and the guns and everything feels really quite fine :)

Gonna be playing more of this, try different guns, etc.

Well, this ain't out yet, either. Probably won't be out this year.

Played way too late yesterday night. Some further impressions: currently, the biggest issue is matchmaking, as getting even matches is very rare.
Basically, you get a few weapon classes - SMGs, "sniper" rifles (currently, only the top rifle in the class is actually a sniper weapon, the rest are just rifles with ironsights), shotguns (not all have buckshot), pistols and assault rifles (currently only represented by AK, a top gun).
You unlock more weapons and equipment (better armor) by gaining reputation, that you mostly get by completing missions (such as, get X kills in a match, get X kills in a row, achieve X% accuracy and win, bring X containers to your base, etc) for one of four factions. You generally have to be dressed in that factions clothing/armour to do the missions.
Rifles can generally kill in a single torso/head hit, or so it seems, but quickscoping isn't really an option, since rifles sway a lot, if you try and aim them after moving. You can steady your aim quite quickly by holding your breath, but generally you want to be standing still for a bit, before you try and kill someone with it.
So, yeah, currently the game is just an arena team-based shooter with some gear progression, but hopefully it will be a lot more than that, as development progresses.

Ok I´m jelly

Otherwise...it doesn´t have a singleplayer mode and I LOVED singleplayer in stalker, alll the lonely rambling around in the wild...*sigh*

I guess I´ll just watch it from the distance until it comes out

Well, okay, it's nothing great atm. It's just a team-based arena shooter, with like 8 or so people on each team. They are not planning to release freeplay mode till the end of the year.

Also, hoping they make the balance less skewed by then. Currently, you have your low tier guns, which are hard to use and kill with, that do little damage and have low armor penetration... and then you got your top tier guns, that absolutely annihilate. You get awarded random stuff after matches, mostly ammo, but you sometimes also get some items, sometimes with some bonuses even.

I got lucky and got an SKS (one of the 2 assault rifles in the game, though it's more like a semi-auto battle rifle), whilst not being even close to actually unlocking it. Got some ammo and it seems that i can keep using this gun now. The difference between this and low-tier guns is immense.

Necro bump. Anyone still trying this beta? It has now status open beta in some countries. It's still capture the flag but with really nice maps and pretty balanced weapons
