What is the best class to learn to parry with a weapon?
I loot corpses of their golden teeth.
But he'll be around somewhere between Heaven and The Devil, because neither of them will take him in, and he'll be farting loudly and singing a filthy song.

i'll be there at around

1h block is way faster(say whatever you want its my opinion)
but heavy weapons will stun you like crazy
I think then some hevy semifast polearm is the best but that weapon have to be balanced
longsword or bastrad is good  but you will try to faillspam to much

in my opinion best weapon is Sword of War or Elegant poleaxe

native mod, duel serveur, fight the bot
The world is split in two categorie.
The one digging, and the one with the loaded crossbow.

But never forget that the one digging, got a big shovel.

This. Try Ndition duel server. There's this "bot master" armed with a wooden sword that you can't kill, but can knock down. Then there's normal bots, that can definitely kill you, at different levels, and then finally... there's players.

2h is the class to choose though, so that's... kind of infantry, swadian probably.

I got a better setup to suggest.
1-Go to native-tutorial. Go to melee practicioners Enjoy practicing the blocking with 0 ping.
2-Later on, go to Nditions when you think you are good enough.
3-Duel servers, bad players.
You'll figure out what to do later on :)

Can we get these bots in our duel servers?  It sounds awesome.

And you can set the speed to slower and block the low rank trainers and then slowly go up the ranks and up the speed. Best way to learn proper blocking fast.

Yeah. I would like to remind that turn that auto block off from the options. Dunno if it stays on in that practise tutorial by default, but just to make it sure ^^.

When you feel comfortable blocking the bots, just join duel server in crpg. Fighting actual human opponent in multiplayer is really different from what the bots do and I wouldn't train with the bots for too long. You have to learn how to read the animations and not just to remember the combos, and timings that the bots do. Learn how people exploit the animations with hiltslashes, strange feints and all the weird looking stuff that never happens with bots. When you learn to block them, you naturally learn how to attack the same way.

Blocking has no 'speed'. Block is block on all weapons, regardless of size, weight or other factors.

I think there is a recovery rate (after the offensive move), which can be percieved as blocking speed. So wpf, weapon statistics, attack type (thrust or swing) might play a major role here.
A little dislaimer that I am talking through experience, and not 100% sure.

You're right, i think. Also, unbalanced weapons.

But when not swinging, block times are equal on all weapons afaik.

Yeah they are exactly same when turtling (blocking every attack without retaliating in order to piss of your opponent).
