I've had the exact same issue but I solved it because my laptop had 2 graphics cards, the GeForce GT 525M and some integrated basic card. My laptop was using the integrated until I switched the settings to use the GeForce and it worked like normal.

Maybe some of you have this same problem that can be solved, good luck x]

-LUBU

p.s. The reason for the required switch is because the recent patches now opens up a new .exe which needed to be updated in my graphic card settings as it use to be set to the old usual one, but not anymore.

Can you give me an example of a map that's particularly bad? I can try and profile it to see what's killing the performance.
Here is my laptop config

core i5 2430m (3.0 ghz)
6giga memory
gtx560m 2g
15,6 screen

a player laptop, i play at bf3 on ultra/skyrim ultra with enb settings on the highest/shogun 2 and the witcher 2 ultra.

BUT damn god, i can play fluently to crpg ( here is my settings =>
(click to show/hide)

And i play between 70 and 121 fps. But on some maps i drop to 30! . For exemple : Swadian City, canals of our city (unplayable) glacier valley (unplayable too), and some other map i dont remember.
Damn. It's snowing again.

Riot in swadian city causes huge FPS drops for me, not to mention the "normal" fps is ridiculously low. Whereas other maps  i get 90+ fps there i get a steady 20 - 30 fps, dropping down to 0.1 fps for 5 second periods randomly. It's not the only map that does it.

Got a GTX 260 and running the graphics on low
Core i7 920
6 gig ram
vista 64
19" lcd screen

I play 1H inf / 1H cav atm too, so life is hard enough trying to block. And when the freezes happen I've run people over before which is annoying for everyone.

For me the problems startet after adding the new Byzantium-Armorsets, I think.
Could it be that those textures are done in a higher resolution or are differently optimized?
I noticed that lowering Texture "detail" (or a similiar option in the graphics menu - not sure about the exact term) to 75% or lower and lowering the "character detail" setting to the same setting is helping the performance on my rig quite a bit.
Lowering the "visible corpse" setting has a good impact either.

Those things seem to point to texture-memory issues.

I think my performance issues started right after that patch too. Before I've been able to play with almost max quality. Now if I put everything to low, I still get occasional (and deadly :() drops to fps. The weird thing is that the drop doesn't show on the warband fps counter.

It's worst on EU1 but happens on smaller servers too.

Well, according to TW developers the new patch should be out on friday, which means we should have a proper 1.15x cRPG version in the weekend. We'll see if that fixes it.

render_buffer_size = 15, try o change value from 15 to let's say 128, also if you are playing on DX9 try to turn of Dynamic Lighting, also turning off HDR and pixel shaders should improve performance, reducing number of corpses and rag dolls might help as well. I personally had to switch to dx7, but my Laptop is not good as yours. Apart from turning almost all of graphical options I resized almost all textures

render_buffer_size = 15, try o change value from 15 to let's say 128

As long as the buffer sizes are defined in game_variables.txt (and they are in cRPG), this setting will do absolutely nothing.
also if you are playing on DX9 try to turn of Dynamic Lighting

That setting only affects DX7 and does nothing in DX9.

so i've found out the problem, whatever you guys have rewrote in the files, its making my computer use my integrated graphics card rather then my Nvidia Geforce GTX580.  How can i set the prpgram to utilize the correct card from the launcher, as if i play native it uses the correct one(clicking the Warband shortcut i have attached to my desktop).  However if i launch Crpg from the launcher and click play it does not use my gfx card.

Same here since Warband 1.151, with my i7-2600, 3.5GB allowed @ NT5.1 32 bits

I feel that the problem is due to blood.

Before on DTV I was able to kill during a 40 bots wave 1 peasant/second, since this patch I have a micro-freeze for each kill, fps drop 85 (VSync+fps_max=85) to 60/30 fps, then I die by the horde after only 3 kills.

This doesn't seem due to ragdoll but from blood.

chadz TaleWorlds killed this game, once again...

PROBLEM SOLVED:

FOR LAPTOP USERS ONLY, OR USERS WITH MULTIPLE CARDS

if your experiencing a problem check and make sure your graphics card is actually being used, what had happened was the launcher changed the program to use the integrated card onboard, instead of my GTX580.

to remedy this i had opened up the control panel for my graphics card(Nvidia) and creat a new program setting for mb_warband_old.exe and tell it to utilize my gfx card.
