Calm down people.

All non steam users wont have the problem because they dont autoupdate. For any steam users, if you can, turn of steam autoupdate function BEFORE it updates to 1.500.

If you have already updated it, you could try a complete uninstall and then installing from the taleworlds website directly, but make sure to dl version 1.143 rather than anything else.

No idea how long it will take to fix, as Im not a computer wizard, you will have to wait on chadz or cmpx for an eta.

Just don't close steam, otherwise you're fucked next time you start it. There's no way to delay those updates for long, because that steam option only works for that one session. I asked about it from steam support last year and this is what they said:

"Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

The option to disable automatic updates does not disable the requirement for Steam to install the latest updates before launching your game. This option will only allow you to delay the update until you next choose to launch the game.

There are no options for running Steam games without all necessary updates."

So... hooray Valve for auto updates even if you would never want them.

Use your steam CD Key. When you use the Launcher it'll detect the Non steam version, Press No when asked if you want to use Steam by the Launcher. Patch cRPG (It's not a warband patcher so don't get all scared) and get back to your pitiful cRPG existance.
