Switching mains and alts....

Hey guys, have another question for ya. I joined a clan with an alternate character, and I'd rather use him in strat instead of my main. Is it plausible that I can kill my main character off, and then select one of my alts to become my main character, thus using him for strat? I've heard mixed things about it, but I don't want to do anything stupid without knowing what's gonna happen.  Thanks.

A character that exists as an alt.. stays as an alt.

You have to create a new one to set main role on it.

however you can give what looms you have to a friend, kill your main character, losing all his gens and what not, and then make your alt a main, then transfer all the looms to said new main character.

also depends on the situation, if you accidentally stf and suck enough cocks, you might get revert or something

And which is totally pointless, to Kill a high Gen Char (with xp bonus) and start from scratch. Just play till 31 and retire, or respecc if you want to change your build.

And change name then.

Yea, I planned on gettin his loom and gold onto the guy I want to be for main, and my current main is only gen 2 so no biggy. So then it sounds like it is possible to use an alt as your main after you've killed your main, but the new main will start at lvl 1 most likely. Is this correct? I want to be 100% sure before I do anythin.....

the alt has to be created after your current Main is deleted. An alt you have already made will stay an alt forever.

Your new main has to be a brand new character as far as I know if you do it from the website.  Not sure if admins can change an existing alt to a main for you with direct help in IRC or not.  Might want to ask in there.   (bother Meow)

The problem here is that you already got a gen 2 char as your current main and we usually do not reset roles in that case but since you seem to be kinda new I will offer you to reset the role on both, your main and your alt.

As always this is a one time thing and if you ever want to switch your main again you will need to delete the current one first and then create a fresh character to set as main.

My personal advice would be to just play your current gen2 main and rename him to what you like after your next retirement.
(you have the option to do a full name change up to 1 hour after retiring by just doing a normal request which will be auto accepted).

If you already put points in stuff you do not want anymore you can use the respec function which will make you lose 50% of your xp but at level 5 that is like 25k xp so not a huge loss of game time.

Since your highest non STF character right now is 25 I would highly recommend sticking to your current main.
Level 5-25 does not take that long and you will be happy in the long run since every generation gives you a small xp boost up to generation 16.
