Hi,

First of all I'm new to this game so don't kill me if I do basic questions.

I've been reading of Generations, that if you reach level 31 and hit the heir thing, you get like a son, isn't it?

My question is... they are better in anything you master them or it has to be the same than the father (2H for example)? Is it worth get to 3rd gen or should I level 31+ with 1st or 2nd gen?

1. no, they aren't better at anything and you can use any weapon you like :D
2. you can heirloom a weapon of your choice, which means that they will get higher damage and speed
3. you get 10% extra exp

as for how many times you should reitre, it depends on what you like.
I retire everytime i hit 31 because i like feeling some kind of progress instead of only lvling every 2 or more weeks.
i also do it to get new heirlooms.

I suggest that you retire atleast 3 times to get your favourite weapon fully heirloomed, but that is up to you :D

Thank you for your answer.

More questions come to me...

So, you heir a particular weapon or a kind (like 2H)? I understand for your answer it is a particular weapon isn't it? This has something to do with some weapons I found that say "tempered XXX" or "balanced XXX"?

You can get the bonus more than once? 100% - 110% - 120% etc?

How many times can you heir?

yes, you heirloom one particular weapon, for example a danish greatsword.
yes, that is why you have seen tempered, balanced, deadly, masterwork weapons and so on.

you can heirloom an item up to 3 times, and this topic tells you the stats they will get: http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,965.0.html

you can retire to respec your character with no bonus xp or heirloom at level 15, this is if you mess up your build.
You can retire as many times as you want.
To retire and receive the bonus 10% xp and heirloomed item you must be level 31
you can retire as many times as you want, you can only heirloom an item 3 times.

I'm going to link you to the "ITEMIZED HEIRLOOM" thread, which has ALL the items in the game, and shows what they turn into when HEIRLOOMED.

The heirloomed weapon won't make you godly & the 10% xp bonus is hardly noticeable the first time you retire, but retirement is fun to continue feeling your character progress, instead of as Torp said. Leveling every 1-2 weeks.

^ Itemized heirloom, you can see what you're investing in if you choose to retire and heirloom an item.

Also if you're having more issues many of your questions can be answered here

^ Beginner's help & guide section of the forum.

Hope that helps, see you on the battle field :D

- Torp already beat me to answering but I'm going to post this anyways because I wrote it so somebody should read it !

I've a question as I haven't reached level 31 yet either... the item heirloomization thread shows that pretty much all weps get +2 damage. Is this generalized or what? What is the difference between masterwork heirloom and tempered heirloom then? Is it only name or is the item heirloomization thread only for a certain type (mw, tempered, etc)? I'm confused here.

Thank you both!

Still didn't answered about the cumulative effect of XP bonus, but like you said you feel like progressing I guess it is cumulative.

I've gotta be careful then about which weapon I heirloom... Besides from the one you gave me, is there any guide or site where I can ask/read about which weapon is best or I have to choose from reading the stats? I fear I'll choose the wrong weapon and then regret when I learn to play well..!

it depends on what lvl you aim for... if you aim for lvl 50, retiring 500 times before going there would probably be the best option :D for lvl 35, i'd say 5-8

and concerning what weapon to chose:

here is a discussion on the best 2h sword:
http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,1932.new.html#new

and a discussion on favourite build:
http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,2468.0.html

this topic discusses polearm/2H
http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,2574.0.html

there are much more topics out there, these are just the few i know about :D

There is a thread were someone posted that some calculations showed that you get to lvl 35 the fastest, which is the lvl hardcap, by retiring 6 times. Do a search for it, youll probably find it or believe me on my word. Getting to lvl 35 does take ages, I don't know if anyone has done it already.

Well you can't really say it gets you there the fastest cuz you obviously get there faster with every generation, but you probably mean that you need a minimum of 6 retirements before you should try to lvl to 35.

Well the post they're talking about does a mathematical analysis of how to get a new character to level 35 the fastest.  It turns out the best route is to retire 5 times to gen 6, which will get you to 35 faster than just going straight for it on generation 1 and also faster than retiring a 6th time and going for it on generation 7.

GEN 1 is 100% xp
GEN 2 is 110% xp
GEN 3 is 120% xp
GEN 4 is 130% xp
etc
etc

GEN 7 makes 1600 xp at multiplier x1

Go to the balance/Suggestion part of this forum and look what weapon people want to nerf, that should give a pretty good idea of what weapon to choose.
Only drawback is that those weapon will probably be nerfed eventually, (barmace user you know what i m talking about harf harf harf)
