Well it's only an interactive and up-to-date version of the famous power of ten movie : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fKBhvDjuy0
What is really cool though, is that they show the the cosmological noise around the observable universe.
Also, I think that in a few millenia, or even centuries, it will be space or death for us. No matter how sustainable we become, we need resources. And afterall, "The Earth is the cradle of humanity, but mankind cannot stay in the cradle forever", right ?
Well, if technology advances, and humanity would use asteroid mining, Earth could be supplied from the asteroids around us.
Too bad we won't see a real Space Age. We'll still only have Earth habited by man when I'll die, I'm sure.
I'm not that much of a Sci-fi fan, but I was interested of stars, planets, and space in general, since Kindergarten.
Remember how I learned to read so that I can understand what they are writing about the planets in one of the books when I was there. Was I 3,4,5? I don't remember, it was early kindergarten though.
Good stuff
PS: Some music about the "Space or Death" thing,
