Last Stand of the Norse Horde, defense of Ambean

Additional, practically irrelevant information:

Mercs are attacking Ambean on Monday, 4:57pm eastern with 1249 troops.
The Norse Horde stands ready with 2400 troops.

We have all manner of equipment stockpiled, including hundreds of mail shirts, hundreds of helms, enough heirloomed spears to build a fence around the village, bows, crossbows, etc.

I think we have a solid chance of destroying the Merc army if we can just equal them on the roster.  If you're pretty sure you can make it, sign up for Ambean.  (Double true if you can use a spear.  I don't know why we have so many, really...)

Preference will be given to those in vent 15 minutes before the battle (check the battle page about an hour before the fight for vent info).

Well, was a nice try.

It's always sad to see so little team awareness, I saw so many team hits on people who were rushing trying to get kills.  Several spearmen to their left - and they circle their opponent to the left.

Of course, those people in their hunger for kills ended up doing a lot of damage to allies as well.


Shame we had so many no shows, especially since it seems some people were dropped from the roster.

Thanks to all those who came out!  We had a pretty full roster, just not nearly enough weapons to go around and Operation Loot the Enemy Weapons did not go as planned.  We wiped about half their army before finally getting overrun and spawn camped.


To Anders I say, "y u no in Vent?"  We had literally 100 people sign up for 50 slots.  I looked for you in vent and tried to find you in CRPG_3.  Figured you for a no-show and got someone I knew was there.  Everyone who showed up in vent got in as well as everyone I managed to eyeball in CRPG_3 (shame about the no alphabetical ordering there; makes it very hard to be sure if I have everyone).


There really should be a better system for making sure rosters can be full.  Definitely penalizes pickup groups where you can't be sure who's online and who's not.


And to those who were wondering why we kept spawning when we were being camped, it's because there's no retreating with gear in a village battle.  Whatever we ended the fight with, Mercs would have kept, so we spawned just to burn the gear and the troops (I am a big fan of "scorched earth").


All I really wanted to do was make sure nobody got Ambean for free, and we did that.  A few hundred more weapons and it might have been a lot more interesting.  We'll bear that in mind for Strat 4!

I got hired YESTERDAY and then, at 2 ish today (3 hours before battle) i was unhired. So, I applied for both, mercs got me. And I fought for the mercs.

Like I said, there were 100 signups for 50 spots.  I unhired anyone I couldn't find online 5 minutes prior to the battle and hired someone else in their place.  Sorry to anyone who showed up and couldn't get in.



P.S.

As the NH treasurer I decided to pay out 10 gold per kill to everyone who attended.  I know it's not a great deal of money but I thought people should get paid something at least.  Congratulations go especially to Cooties, who killed 47 people.  (Next highest was Koldborn with 32 kills.)  Normally I would pay out some arbitrary values based on kill ratio (so that 20:18 does not necessarily pay better than 10:2) but with the burn-the-gear spawn camping at the end, there was no way to know what the "actual" KDR was, so I just went with kills.

I'm trying to process this quote but I don't think I understand it, if I got it right please explain more about how the Mercs and Kapikulu are going to take over all NA lands.
