grinding past 33, etc.

So what is the incentive to grind after you hit lvl 33, and already quit retiring after generation 15 or so?
Is it really worth it to grind 44 million xp for a few more skill points?
what is there in the end-game to keep people playing?

For me, it is the satisfaction of having my "dream build" and never being a peasant ever again.

Instead of leveling my Main to 34, I plan on leveling my shielder alt to 33 as well simply to have another dream build.

I find it rather enjoyable, as I view it as a "reward" and not "oh damn, ran out of things to do." It helps that there are new maps, and new players or old changing players to keep things interesting and fresh. As a bonus for having an archer main, every patch also changes the mechanics enough where my playstyle radically changes too, forcing new tricks.

Then again, I'm the guy with two and a half dozen active alts, so....

*shrugs*
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

Damn I only have 10 alts. Damn you Tears. I do have more hours though  8-).

I definitely recommend alts. I love messing around with joke alts, like my torch alt or my cudgelman alt. Its up to different people though.

Why spend ~46 days making a super character when all you have to do is Skip The Fun and make a cavalry archer or a lancer cavalry and one hit you with a couchable lance.

Different strokes for different folks. Plus most people when they make a super character do it on their main for strat. Some do it for their alts as well like Tears. *shrug*

Because back in the day STF did not exist for starters, and secondly you have to delete that STF and start anew with new gear for another joke build.

Once a ninja has retired 6 times, he has his loomed lamellar and katana/spear/whatevs and enough gold to buy a fully loomed sidearm. No point in retiring at that point. In fact, I still have gold to buy a 4th fully loomed item, but I can't decide on which.

Because skipping the fun provides no emotional attachment to your character. All you're playing for when you skip the fun is beating upkeep. That's it. Whereas even if you're getting couched at the start of every round, your pitiful character is getting ever-closer to becoming slightly stronger, slightly more agile, and/or slightly more skilled than the majority of other characters in cRPG.

For me its all about the alts. Constant retiring keeps you from using them. Of course many players use different classes each gen, but I hate the idea that you can only change your class after each gen. Especially when there are times I play less and a gen tooks several months. So I can't play 2h all the time even if I feel like? no thanks.

ofc. I will enjoy certain things at 34 as well :P
