If you sit through the entire rotation, there should be enough maps to satisfy your diverse needs. If you can be more specific in what you mean by guidelines other than size I'll take a closer look.

Like I said we'll be refining our rotation as the week continues.

Sure, currently the Official servers tend to sport more open field and sprawled out village maps. These are good in their own right and serve their purpose to prepare people for Strat battles. But they also tend to favor cavalry and are typically more useful for large population battles as they are very wide spread and do not offer many choke points.

You could position the Community servers with a more fast paced, foot-classes and close quarter combat map selection in mind. The smaller number of players would be beneficial for this and a ton of the ATS maps are great for it. Also some fun maps, which would never make it on the official ones (de_rats from CS comes to mind) would be a great change of pace.

Mind you, I am not saying unbalanced maps (e.g. completely hindering cav from playing) should be on the server per se, but as long as the map rotation balances itself out with maps benefiting one class over another from time to time on a map and reversing it on the next map, advanced players might welcome the challenge. Not every map has to be perfectly balanced in itself imo.

I am a cav player myself and am frankly bored of running around on open plains, lancing and bumping people to death out in the open where they do not stand much of a chance. I'd welcome the challenge.

What would be great is if every server has its own USP and therefore people can play what fits their playstyle best - or look for additional challenges by doing the opposite. In the end it is about providing additional fun and diversity and I am grateful for that.

Glad to see you back and active again, Ecko. Best of luck with the servers and thanks for the consideration!

Someone remind me why we need to spread thin the already thinning playerbase....

Because I'm tired of waiting for NA_1 to unlock on weekend nights, and siege if for the scrubbiest scrubnubs?
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.

Good question...I used to ask the same thing before there were officials.

I agree...but I don't think shutting out cav on the server is the right move. Though I'd like to be different than officials, I feel like we already are in many ways.

A. Our map rotation sports a mixture of close quarters and open field. Sometimes both at once.
B. Our rotation is dynamic...what it is one week might change the next.
C. As new and old maps are brought forward, maps will cycled in and out of rotation.

I feel as though you only played for a limited period as the server opened. I highly suggest you play more frequently. though some maps pop up more often than others, but that doesn't mean the rotation started over.

That... is what I said. Please read my post again.

I played for about 3 hours last night as soon as the servers opened.

Too lazy to read it again.

I'm going through the map rotation to spread out the heavily open maps. At the start it seems to be 5 in a row.

There, i believe, 200 to go through, so give me time.

I demand the amount of elitists on the servers be reduced! Casual gamers like me can't survive and rage quit all the time!

I am in love with the smaller server to be honest, it drives out the randomers who refuse to work as a group, leaving the core clans together, where as the randomers who do work together actually stay.

I also find that horses go down faster due to the majority of each team constantly watching each other's backs.

At the very least, it is a nice break from the massive server. I like both though to be clear. EU_1 for when I want a large server pop for my archer main (that was fun earlier =D), NA_1 when I want to mow down people with my shielder alt, or Community 1 for my archer to have a challenge.
