Problem is that its government-subsidized, so its cheaper than real sugar to produce and sell, which means its used everywhere. Half the boxed foods in your grocery store probably have it. It basically lies to your taste buds as we are genetically drawn to sweet foods (which used to mean fruits with highsugar content but also plenty of nutrients). If you took away the corn syrup, most of those "foods" sold would taste exactly like what they are - highly processed cardboard. The other way we trick our tongues is overheating foods, where we burn off taste buds when we eat it so we think foods taste better then they actually do. Why sushi is so great - can eat it without seasoning, sugar, etc. and its got such an abundance of rich textures that you can sit and enjoy for a long, pleasurable meal slowly chewing through delicacies.
P.S. Oh yeah, since I forgot to mention it before, beautiful pictures Coy and Vic, you are both very lovely women, now stop trying to gouge each other's eyes out, as entertaining as that may be for the rest of us.
