Finally it starts to look like a siege with defending the walls and bottlenecks instead of braindead camping the flag to win.
Mods compatible with cRPG. New crosshairs, textures, sounds, yay.

Haven't tested it yet, only really played rageball so far. That sounds like what the change was aiming for, though.

Very good, but some castles need some work. Distar castle for example, the ladders are so steep, that you can hardly walk up^^

Funny thing is, that people still play like retards, only camping flag instead of doing useful things and start complaining now, that all the maps are shit xD

With a watchful defender team its not impossible to break attacker ladders. Ladder placement were always part of sieges werent they?

I think what Tot wants it some kind of tactics.

Before patch people were headlessly running around on the walls trying to kill everyone they could see who came up on his own ladder somewhere OR they were just staying at flag the whole time until they died once.

What we have now is, that people have to concentrate on important points like gates. In most castles gates were unimportant, cause you could just spam ladders over all roofs. Now there are some maps (I saw at least two today) on which defence had no chance when they did not close the gates again.

Just one example, but it might improve the use of brain on servers  :lol:

Yes. Ladders were completely ruining siege. Now some maps might need tweaking but the option of keeping ladders would've meant that pretty much every single map needs serious tweaking so that ladders won't make defence retarded.

Hmm, i would call "bypass a well defended position" some kind of tactic.
Anyway, now it is a way to easy for the defence.

I like it because it allows map makers to make proper siege maps without worrying about weird ladder bridges.

We do need an overhaul of the maps though.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

The point is that cRPG sieges had nothing of the epicness of native sieges, where there actually was sort of a "frontline", where attackers kept pushing, defenders holding certain rooms, squares, gates, sometimes even in a proper formation. CRPG siege with ladders is pretty much just a game of how to cleverly ninjacap the flag.

And also, most of the random people never learned how to defend a castle vs. spam of ladders, aka. it was terribly easy for a small group of organized people to win the rounds.

We do need an overhaul of the maps though.

What I'd like to see is more tweaking of the available time to capture the flag, ie. longer on more difficult castles, not fiddling around the maps itselves. Longer rounds with slower attackers' progress could be really great.

BTW. There really should be a system of capturable spawn flags when you're taking the walls, so it would be more like Strategus sieges instead of hordes of defenders constantly spawning behind your back.

I don't know how big of a problem it really was but I've seen maps lost for attackers with basically a straight ladder path from the spawn to the flag.

I really like these new open field siege maps that got added to the NA server, it's like a deathmatch mode.  Probably not good for the defenders multipliers but really fun.  :)

As far as ladders on siege, I'll miss the jump puzzle mini-game, but it'll be interesting to try it like this for a while.  If anything, it might be an indirect buff to attackers because now they're going to be moving together in big mobs instead of spreading out like ladders allowed them to do.  As long as every castle has at least 2-3 access points this might work.
