Anybody want to end this discussion  by looking up the average lifespan of a circa 9th-15th century warrior would be?

If you got to the age of 21, the average was:
    1200-1300 A.D.: 43 years (to age 64)
1300-1400 A.D.: 24 years (to age 45) (due to the impact of the Black Death)
    1400-1500 A.D.: 48 years (to age 69)
    1500-1550 A.D.: 50 years (to age 71).

Gotta love Wikipedia.

This means, if we talking 1400-1500, 48(Equals lvl 33)isnt even that unrealistic. And I guess you could still have all your fighting capabilities, too.
Maybe it woud be better for me to find out where you life and kill you when you are satch a Soziopath. You have enough now.

In the end, it was always stupid that there is an "age" in this game. It's redundant (level determining age), has no effect on the game otherwise, and the age slider in the character creation page is not related to it. I honestly don't care that it is noted in the game, but it has no reason to be, may confuse new players, and is altogether useless.

Important thing to note about statistics concerning life expectancy in the middle ages:
Deaths in childbirth and at infancy will severely impact the statistics because of lack of adequate medical care back then. A commonly stated myth that is passed off as fact is based on this misinterpretation of statistics. ("people only lived to the age of 30 in the middle ages")  However, if you count the people that survived to adulthood (15 years), most will have lived to their 50s and 60s, sometimes even longer. Since everyone starts at age 16 we can basically assume that we all survived infancy. We can also assume that nobody dies in childbirth in cRPG. We can also remove warfare as a factor on life expectancy because everyone knows that nobody dies from being killed in cRPG. (they just respawn)

tl;dr basically what b3rs3rk said.

this is very true. its more like THEY expected to be dead at 30. Its kind of like cancer and aids nowadays, the statistics will show alot die, and it seems bad, but in reality people only normally know 1 or 2 diagnosesed with it out of the 100s that arent that they know.

Yeah, it's a very stupid stereotype, I wonder where the hell does it come from. School education maybe?

Just think about people who were either wealthy, or were priests, etc etc.

Not everyone was a mercenary/soldier, or had such an unhealthy life compared to the poorer classes.

Yeah in America we only learn about a month of Egypt, the 2 World Wars once or twice. But our own history repeats every single year, starting at the revolution.

It simply comes from the fact that shik already stated: The Average lifespan really WAS as bad as the stereotypes, but just because there were so many Child deaths. If you managed to reach a certain age, it became much better.

And that´s a perfect example why you cant always plainly trust statistics and you always need some more background information.

@History education: In germany, we pretty much have the whole package.Stone age to Cold war, we got everything. But in the most important classes(From class 8 to 13, varying on the school you go to)we learn about WW1, WW2 and the Time up to 1990 pretty much. That´s why we learn the most about that time.
Maybe it woud be better for me to find out where you life and kill you when you are satch a Soziopath. You have enough now.
