(RTW) Rome:Total War

I hit the search button with a couple of diffrent keywords, nothing showed up

Rome:Total War

Here it is,Rome:total war has it's own little thread :)

Personally,i think it's one of the best in the world, simply because it drains so many of your lifes hours, trying to perfect you tactics, learning how to build the most effiecent cities and build the strongest army. The game just throws so much at you,it's hard to keep up with it
(it's even harder with mods like http://www.rometotalrealism.org)

I have wasted hours and hours into this game(not less than 100h of playtime(in 3 weeks)),and only beat it with one faction (whitch was actually op).

Still,i count as a newbie to this game. :/

I would really like to see your expierience with this game, because it is purely amazing for me!

RTR mod for me.

Looks cool,but i prefer the vanilla  :P

Seriously, Vanilla? That's such garbage in my opinion. The whole "three families" thing is stupid for an example, Roman units look totally inaccurate, let alone Egyptians, I could go on, and on..

It is the best of the series, still. Old as hell, though.

Europa Barbarorum.
This. Most accomplished historical mod for any game, only thing that supersedes the AD1257 module for WB in terms of level of research that has gone into it. Great balance and atmosphere, too.

Other than that I think Medieval I was the the height of the Total War series (where the new Shogun dlc 'yanks vs samurais' must be the absolute low point in regards to theme and fantasy elements), but Rome was quite good, if more arcadey than the previous games.

Out of the box Medieval 1 was the best of the TW series, agreed. With mods Rome beats it though. But even with mods the AI constantly fails in the campaign and battle maps. There are mods that improve the battlefield AI but nothing seems to be able to fix the retardedness on the campaign map. Diplomacy might as well not exist too.

Diplomacy in RTW is a joke.

I agree with that.

In M2TW it plays a bigger role, though.
It's actually useful.

Didn't try out any mods for the TW games and like Medieval 2 most. The unit design is just better than in Rome. But Rome was kind of a quantum leap compared to Medieval and Shogun and thus was also a lot of fun (and drained time) for me!

medieval 1 was the best TW game /discussion.

With each part the series went downhill. It goes like this(After shogun)

medieval I>rome>medieval II>Empire>Napoleon>Shogun II

Medieval I was just perfect.I so wished to play it with everything the same except for the combat map graphics.
Maybe it woud be better for me to find out where you life and kill you when you are satch a Soziopath. You have enough now.
