As far as i know that's a Tanto, not a "ninja sword". It's again another samurai weapon, one made to pierce. The katanas you know nowdays combine that sword's piercing abilities with another japanse curved sword (looks like a more curved katana) that was made for cutting only. 15th century or so a blacksmith made the katanas, a mix of those two earlier swords, that combined the best of both. Ninjas don't have specific weaponry as they weren't soldiers, they were spies and assassins. You could find them using anything you'd find in Japan/China on those earlier eras, which included samurai weaponry.

1. Tanto = Dagger (curved, around 30cm long)
2. You probably mean the "tachi", which is also known as a ceremony-sword and a cavalry-sword (was weared normally, like european would wear a katana, with the cutting edge downside, but just on horseback), this was longer than a katana (120-150cm) and even more curved.
3. There was really no special weaponry for the ninjas, until they called themselves ninjas, then they produced special weapons like the raven-feet, just as an example.

Ask more if you want to know, otherways you can read much 'bout in the internet, i can tell you some things that are true and not, if you want.

Rightfully corrected, the Tantos are are daggers. What i meant are Chokutõs (Jo-Kotou in the pic).

Anyhow, ended not writing about it, better texture for the japanese swords is a great idea, but i think the ones you got aren't the best. It's an improvement, even if small. Would love if you had better blade textures than that.
New japanese swords would be really nice too. And polearms, and bow. I vote #3.

EDIT: Tachi is "longsword". This term that can be used to describe any sword with a long (100+ cm) blade, though you got Great Sword for the big 2 handers.

The wave pattern on the blade is way too prominent, needs to be more subdued. And personally I prefer the native sheath.

It needs some anti aliasing but otherwise it looks sweet (please use better settings when taking screenshots :P you would get alot better votes)

nodachi will always be a way inferior weapon though unless they give it a decent stab attack.

These are very, very nice textures, and they make me sad that there can be no more Samurai in the game.

Looks to grainy to me, maybe the photo or the in game look. Either way the katana and wakizashi are the way they should look  the nodachi is the only one that is to off sized look at museums weapons not cheep store ones for comparisons.  :?
