Fallen attacked the village from HRE so they could get control of it.  I'm assuming they wanted to transfer ownership to another Fallen member, and the only way to do that is to attack their own village.

It's also possible they did this as a stalling tactic to get more people heading that direction to reinforce.  This is a known issue and the dev's have acknowledged it.  But like the issue where defenders lose all their gear they have equipped if they win a battle, it's a game breaking issue that completely fucks over strategus.  And like any game breaking issue, has been unresolved since it was reported to the devs.

Go Devs!! YeaH!!!!!

More dedicated developers could have literally taken the concept from this game and created a completely new game on a different game engine and marketed it to publishers and selling it for 15 bucks a pop by now.  C-RPG and Strategus have unlimited potential and a completely open market share if they were interested.  Hell maybe that's why c-rpg and strategus have been so neglected, maybe they are creating a game that will make them some money.

Except that they aren't transferring the village.  The owner is the one who attacked it.

fallen_frank owns the fief he is attacking? you sure? i know its not fallen taking it from HRE, but within faction the only person who can really coordinate and manage the garrison forces and gear is the specific player who runs the fief, if that player isnt very active for whatever reason then the only way to give the fief to another player is to get another member of your faction to attack the fief. with an enemy approaching it would be that much more vital to have an active person in control of the fief; so either they are putting an active person in charge to prepare the defenses, or they are just delaying by using the poor fief ownership system... which it is, only some of them know for sure.

Frank is not the owner of Dusturil, it's some random guy named Glaurung. Loki did not trust me because of my french canadian-ness you see, I could very well be one of them Occitan spies! To prove my loyalty I agreed to transfer the fief to Frank...

And to think you guys would question the honor of the Fallens...

Seems shady as fuck to me, but you can't really blame them when it's the fault of the fief system in strategus.  Blame the devs for not addressing this sooner.

Peppo - There's been discussions on this in the strategus issues section of the forums...I'd suggest you re-posting something about this (and be descriptive) there as well.

It's true that this is the fault of the devs for not fixing this and allowing a form of fief transfer, but it is also the fault of Fallen for using a broken implement as an exploit. Their action shows how in can be abused. Hopefully this will be the needed wake up call to fix it and make the game better.

Everyone, including the devs should be aware of this problem by now, but I agree that a post in the strat issue section is probably the next step to get it fixed.

Then prove it. Have Frank meet me in the NA 3 duel server at 6 est or anytime before the battle. I bet it shows Lord Fallen Frank owner of Dustril has entered. I am calling you out. If you actually believe them about not delaying... You cannot be that intelligent.
