Yes, I'm fully aware of the Maciejowski Bible illustrations of the weapon but pray tell me on which of those pictures you see the 2h monstrosity that is in the game ? The in-game model has a much too long blade and the handle is much too short, the 1h variants are pretty spot on, however.
Weapons are fine, animations are bad.
The hilt-slash is lame not just for realism reasons. First of all, there is a difference between a "realism vs balance discussion" and a game that plays like a circus. Getting slashed by a wooden haft is ridiculous no matter how to look at it...regardless of realism or balance. It's like having horses bump you before they actually touch you. "Boo-hoo..whine about it in realism!" No, that shit would just be ridiculous. Same with hilt-slashing. You are getting hit when you shouldn't. It's a circus. It's absurd.Second of all, in terms of balance, a long weapon should not be able to hit someone who is point-blank on top of you. I don't care of its a lol-jump-spin-stab or a hilt-slash. One of the disadvantages of longer weapons is that they bounce/glance if the enemy is too close. That is also one of the advantages of short weapons. Hilt-slashing disturbs this balance. So yes..this is annoying as hell and should be looked at.
First of all: Amen.Secondly: Am I the only one thinking that the Swiss halberbs and bills are waaaaaaaaay too fast? Those stabs just make no sense at all.Thirdly: Did any of you ever play Vikingr? I really liked the combat in Vikingr because it made sense in every way. The majority of the players used swords/spears/axes and shields and then there'd be a few brave ones using slow but extremely potent 2handed weapons. Everything had its advantages and weaknesses.
Funny that you say amen to that. If there is anyone that comes to mind that hiltslashes and hiltslashes with a polearm it's you. Also, combat should get an enormous overhaul. Give us the gritty, in your face, full contact combat that medieval combat actually was. Start with replacing the kick with a pommel strike for 2h and a shieldbash for shielders.
I totaly AGREE on the 3rd one .
The problem is that the majority of 2h's want an even faster game speed to make their light saber-fights more challenging... Btw, a light saber is a good comparison to the current sweetspot mechanic of the 2h-swords.
The majority of the 2hs are idiots
pikes and spears are bundle of stickss
The goal of Strategus battles shouldnt be to deprive your enemies of players, but to have full roster both sides and have the gear/tactics/strategy win the day rather than lack of merc support.
