All classes are good, and all have own positives. You can get tons of kills with everything all you need is some insane skill:

Also i would say all classes are fine in melee each to each own..

when mastered? 1h without shield no doubt, lighting fast, reasonable damage with high ps and reasonable reach with most of the higher tier swords.

2h, when mastered and with the right equipment. More reach, more damage, more speed than 1h without shield. 2h is and will always be the easiest and strongest class in melee combat.

polearms are the best melee class right now, due to their versatility

Polestun, Pikes, Lances, Mauls, Top Tier have Bonus Against Shield with High damage values, Fast Non-retarded Lolstabs, etc.

1h (no shield) is the best duelist weapon of choice.

2h has the most fluid animations with good damage/range (surpassing sometimes the poles since the swings are with the "superman" arm stretch).


But I suppose you're speaking of hypothetical individual value OP, since to win battles you only need a strong shield-wall, lightning reflexes on pikers, shitloads of ranged, and Cavalry waves for flanking.

The feints are simply better and polestun means nothing against a good opponent. The animations are more deceiving, the range is better yet the range stat isn't that high, making your char slightly faster than equivalent range polearms. It's also way easier to hit the head with 2h.

I find 1h+shield+light/medium armour the most versatile build I've ever done.  After that would probably be hoplite-ing with the intent to sheath my shield in duels.

You need at least 3 strikes landed against very good player in medium armor, is often easier land first with pole and then other two in chainstun.
The feints are not that better, also for most duelist are 2h feints easier to read(except atze ) than good pole feints. Some polearms are quite heavy and weaponstun is big factor two.

I also prefer dueling with 2h over pole, because is more fluid and fun. With polestun i probably bet my money on pro pole use over pro 2h (if they wear 40-50 body armor).

best.. it depends on your playstyle.

Below is assuming u are using top weapons for the class.

* For short lived  clusterfucks:
Polearms for range and damage output, shieldbreaking etc. 2h also good, but not as good.

* For long lived clusterfucks:
1h shield - more of a patience game. Someone that slowly hacks away at the possibilities that are presented.

* For "choosing your battles" flanking, avoiding clusterfucks and ranged:

Here 2h and polearms are more or less the same, requires a different build and armor than clusterfuck fighting. Perhaps 2h has more confusing animations, which could be used to your advantage.
