Urist hath spoken. I stand corrected.

If only names were more fortunate.
Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.

They're Mongol swords. hence the low quality. Mother china isn't despicted in Warband.

And what did Urist say?

Realism makes no sense in Warband and even less in cRPG. Please don't try.

Of course it does make sense. Realism is why we are fighting with swords and axes, instead of fishes and carrots.

Makes as much sense as your "Imperial Guard"  character running around on a charger with a shield, nordic champion sword and throwing axes , with a ninja banner. I wouldn't have mentioned this , but you've kind of brought this on yourself.

Or, as much as your character in Druzhina armor, on a Sarranid horse, or Pikes instead of Bamboos, was that what you were trying to say?

I fail to see your point. The game is not a historical simulation nor is it trying to be. But realism is an integral component and like most games tries to mix realism with playability. That's why in Age of Empires castle takes xy seconds to build instead of 15 real-life years. Discarding realism achieves nothing and just introduces more silly items to the game that break immersion.

As you can see, I also choose equipment much like you - whatever resembles the goal equipment the most. Ninja heraldic has cool silver/black look which is what I want, it also has asian letters on it (albeit kanji) which fits more than other icons. Nordic champion sword (which I just bought to test it), if it ever existed was Chinese export anyway - and besides it resembles Chinese jian more than side sword for example. But I don't really use that sword (except on charger), I'm testing Niuweidao as infantry. And I don't see what's wrong with "Charger" - Chinese had heavy cavalry (unlike Japanese which did not ride Cataphracts or anything like it, to my knowledge), and Charger is just a generic name. And if you need throwing axes, here's a nice pair:

Oh, I forgot. Ninjas originate in China anyway, much like many other "Japanese" things, including the metallurgy of famous Japanese swords, a courtesy of exiled Chinese artisans at the time of Mongol conquest.

In short, saying that realism makes no sense is very different from saying that realism should be one important component among others. But if you want to bicker go ahead.

Lol, now that you've changed your first post (that sentence stating that you wanted your character to look like a historical chinese imperial guard) of course my statement loses it's weight.
Feel free to point out where  in our clan's topic we specifically say "you MUST look like a samurai !". I knew you were going to start pointing fingers ,you know .

And thanks, i don't really need a history lesson. I've been in China, i even have a cheesy picture of myself standing on the Great Wall in full chinese armor with a sword :)  .

Now, you are stating that realism should come into consideration and it's important, i'm alright with this statement. But could you please explain what in the name of Jesus/Buddha almighty is a "sword from post-MnBlade period" ?? You never fail to amuse me, Murasaki. =)

As you can clearly see, the last edit of my first post was yesterday, and you replied just now.

(Plus, I don't even remember where I said I want to look like historical Chinese imperial guard - I certainly dunnot.)

My point was that realism is important element. As exhibit "A" I point at you and your clan.
Words are not needed.

I'm not sure whether this is supposed to sound like pure egoistic boasting, a relevant contribution to the discussion, or something that is supposed to make me feel sad and yearning for distant lands and outdated equipment. I have no desire to visit any foreign country although that happens sometimes, I have no desire to wear historical Chinese armor because the movie one is much cooler. Much like Ninja clan is based on 80s movies and not fully on real ninjas, so is my style in the game based more also on a combination of realism, elegance, and movies.

Thanks, that's pretty much all i needed to hear. You can stop talking about any kind of realism now :).

Yes you won a debate by saying you did, now feel proud and victorious, your life makes sense and you can go somewhere else.

(Never mind that you're not able to grasp what "component" is and what is "100% realism". I am supposedly 'wrong' because I 'proved' I am not for 100% realism. Never mind that I even from post #1 was saying I am not for 100% realism, never mind that I refuted your silly bickering attempts. In your little world there is black and white but mine is colorful. I follow the Middle Way.)

ps: Oh yes, when I said 'no desire to wear historical armor', that sentence was referring to IRL stuff not game. But certainly if there was historical Chinese armor which looked like crap, I would not wear it. As I said, a combination of realism and elegance is what I prefer. I use realism to enrich my gameplay, not to be a slave to it.
