What do you think about running WSE clientside?

I would be fine with running WSE mandatory (lots of new features)
I would be fine with running WSE being an option, while keeping it Native-compatible for those that do not want WSE (some new features)
I do not want to run WSE while playing, and I do not want others to have more features while doing this. (no new features)

With Fire and Sword is coming out in the Spring.

Does this mod have enough life to justify the work? Will chadz be looking to mod for With Fire and Sword?

Very good point! If we'll all be migrating to a cRPG on a newer M&B, why bother including the WSE now?

I would not expect too much from fire and sword especially in multiplayer. As far as I know its developed by a third party, not TW, and will mainly focus on embedding M&B into that novel and professional adding firearms. Single play could be great, with more quests and atmosphere but combat game mechanics will be roughly the same, so I would stick to Warband in multiplayer in general and with crpg as well.

Sounds great as long as it doesn't make much more lag and isn't a hassle to set up.



For some reasons crpg is for some people more laggy than native.

cmp is trustworthy, but an extra program running will, most likely, cause even more delay, especially for those poor souls with old computers and horrible internet connection.

It's very simple, when there are good features added through it (as opposed to only possible), include it, otherwise keep it optional.

Actually you should go look again. Multiplayer is adding quite a few new multiplayer game types including.....Captain Team Death Match. You get your own squad of 4-16 NPC's to run around with and kill other Captains with their squads of NPC's. Not a whole lot of info to be found yet, but what I saw was tantalizing indeed  :wink:

sounds fun! but nonetheless I expect combat mechanics to be nearly the same. And this is crucial for the decision if to move crpg to another game. Adding a similiar or other game modes to crpg is possible and will happen as I heard. And stealing ideas (even scripts?) from fire and sword for mods will be probably no problem. We will see when its published. But its defenitely no reason to delay implementation of this WSE, IMO.

As long as you don't run into troubles with WSE (depending on the implementation it may be considered an illegal hack) and you think that it will add something to gameplay and it doesn't mean that some players can't join cRPG anymore (Steam, prehistoric hardware, religion forbids it, ...) I'd say.. Do what you think is the best for your mod :)
