i'll add two laser turrets on top
as i said i don't need it to be actually better i just want some different blade shapes.
also i think a slightly better great axe somewhere between the claymore and the flamberge would be sweet.

alright so far i got this for the german footsoldier waraxe:
http://road-house.org/mb/axe1.png

texture needs work and i might smooth the model a bit further.

You would have to rebalance the whole axe line, though, because if you introduced a new 2h axe with more dmg and less speed than great axe, it would make the sarranid battle axe obsolete.

Not really sarranid axe would still be the super cheap shield buster

The axe I saw from vikingr reminds me of a varangian guard axe, kinda ornate no longer than regular great axe but much cooler blade, I mean think basically minor improvement at massive upkeep difference not 150 length flambergaxe(I don't think op wanted a looney tune axe for two hand just a higher tier great axe type

Think varangian guard, they were not polearm guys they were huge men (rus/viking/later anglo-saxon) who were famous for two handed axe killing

The head of this axe should be scaled down a bit, though, no way the dude would be able to swing that...it's more metal than is on the great maul.

I think the model is quite good, but the textures still need work. I know that texturing is fucking hard, though, so i respect your effort so far. 10 times better than what I could have done.

That axe looks good but it's kinda too big. Make it a bit smaller, change the model and add this extension at the back of the blade (shown red on picture) and name it Great Battle Axe and it's good to hit the shelves of c-rpg.net inventory screen.
(click to show/hide)

Stats should be (IMO):

Slash damage 48
Speed 88
Length 110

Unbalanced
Bonus against shields

Price 13500 gold

It wouldn't be OP and it has to be good for it's price. It would actually be worse than Great Long Bardiche and a lot worse than Balanced Lolaxes.

Great idea - I'd love to see more axes!

Hey Meow, have you seen this episode of the series 'Conquest'?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhRCNLMzUMY

Parts 2 & 3 have some huge two-handed axes. It's great stuff.

The sarranid axes are both very good cheap and effective but a 2H axe with a bit more price and style would be sweet 8-) it should be around 7-8k and be only marginally better a little faster or longer extra damage is not necessary. I think a longer head with a more ornate shaft and handle would be a good start.

PK is back

Seriously, a "better" 2handed axe would end up as a poleaxe, or imba.

At first glance, I agreed with this. However, the great long axe(polearm) is superior to the great axe(2h) in just about every way.

Negatives that the 2h version has compared to the pole version: Unbalanced, 3 Less base damage, even less heirloomed damage. Significantly less reach. No thrust.

As a matter of fact, the only redeeming qualities of the 2h great axe is that it is cheaper, and slightly faster. As it stands currently, if you wanted to use an axe like the great axe, or great long axe as your primary weapon, I think it's a no-brainer to go polearms. Therefore, I would support an additional 2h axe in the same price category as the great long axe, with similar stats. That would give someone who wanted to be a primary axe user more choice in how they wanted to play/build their character.

Vote Heroin for CHOICE!

EDIT: oooh, that "Hache Boreene" axe would make a great model for a top-end two-handed axe. Someone should do that. :D

I'd vote for the german footsoldier's axe probably , it looks more realistic than the others so far. More 2h axes would be nice anyway.

My main concern with 2H axes is that they are too short (90 to 96) and that - in comparison - several 1H swords are too long (up to 103). Swords outrange Great Axes and that is not normal IMO.

As a wish, I would like to see a 1H1/2 axe. A bastard axe!
