IMO if you buff it any further, light/med armour will become the best...

Look at Ryden, he has lordly armour (I think) and wears light armour with loomed gloves... Pretty unstoppable takes like 6 hits to kill him, especially with his high athletics and low wpf reduction. I think his normal 30 armour, but with everything loomed, amounts to about 60? Basically plate rofl.

I think light armour with huge armour boosts are better than heavy armour with heavier armour boosts nowadays, since everything that hits you will never glance... No more powerhousing through 10 people at once :(

He's using lordly light kuyak which is 49 body armor with I think lordly hourglass (don't quote me on that) which is another +16 body armor.

Also, Bobthehero, getting in your blindspot isn't necessarely at facehug range, but okay.

Kuyak is medium armor... we're talking about light armor here.

light armour is the stuff at 5 weight or less... and most of it gets only +4 for triple loom instead of +7. the changes to soak negated a bit of the benfit of going from 60armour to 67 (used to cause more glances) but it still reduces incoming damage more.. i see no reason why light armour shouldnt gain the same benfit as other armours... something that was mentioned in the last thread about this was that the best light armour with +7 would still only equate to the lowest medium armour (though with less weight). i dont see everyone switching to light armour if they buff the looming on it... itll just make it actually worth doing for those who already use it.

the current logic for keeping light armour down is stupid... its like saying that "oh that wep only does 20 cut, so it should only get +2 damage for being triple loomed cause it has a lower base and weighs less thats still a 10% increase right?! but that wep that does 40 cut should go to 44 cause thats 10% so thats fair right?! thats how it is working with armour right now "oh those light armours have such low armour ratings that they are gaining a higher % increase for +4 than a heavy armour is for getting +7 so its fair! HERP DERP". stop screwing over people who dont want to run around in plate just to survive 2 hits.

Yes, that's what I meant, he's talking as if Ryden was using light armor, his armor can be considered anywhere from medium-heavy to heavy.

That's medium armor and has +7 armor bonus on lordly modifier.

I would consider 36 body armor medium, and that's before his +16 armor from his I believe, triple loomed hourglass gauntlets for a grand total of 52 body armor, or 59 if the tunic over mail is heirloomed too.

Very far from light armor, isn't it? That's the problem right now, it's so easy to get over 50 body armor and almost everyone easily goes past the 60 body armor limit and some even hitting the absolute maximum of 86 with triple heirloomed black armor and heavy gauntlets.

Hierloomed armor should get heavier per hierloom, your passing old armor down to your child its more likely be heavier then the new stuff due to technology improvements over the years.

Then again in a culture technologically stagnated like cRPG the armors would most likely become lighter due to erosion and corrosion. And all the new armors would be the same as the old ones.

And now I find cRPG really depressing.

Light armour is always fun to use but the difference between heirlooming it and not is a great difference. I run in Reinforced Leather Jerkin which has 27 body armour & Lordly Mail Gauntlets, providing another 13, hitting me at 40 body armour.

Not quite into the top medium armour but it's a nice amount, countered obviously by the fact that I don't have a decent helmet, Sturdy Straw Hat with 3 head armour is pretty useless, although I did survive a headshot from a bow the other day, but that's besides the point, bloody peasant archers.

Reducing the weight of the armour each heirloom would eventually mean that archers could outrun Sumpter Horses, obviously a slight exaggeration but there will be a point where my 3.5 weight becomes 2 on the Jerkin, and since I see a massive difference in 1 weight, 2 and 7 athletics (33 with 8 ath) would mean that I would near enough out run everything.
Although I don't think there is anything wrong with light armour, I would more appretiate a slight increase in the amount of armour they get, even if it's one so that on the final level, you gain 3 armour instead of 2, something like that, not that it effects me too much because if I am hit, it'll likely kill me anyways with the way Arbalests/cav are the two things that kill me more than often.
