Is there some special to to block?

whenever i try to block a hit, say a left slash i go to block it and NOPE it blocks for a stab, when i go to block a stab NOPE it decides in going to block a right slash, this is VERY frustrating so i would like to ask, is there some special way to block? or a mod or summin to make it easier to block?

Hello there fellow player,
i would suggest lowering the sensitivity on your mouse, so it detects the correct way of movement. This helped me personally a lot :)

You're probably already aware, but online multiplayer, there's no autoblock, so you have to manually determine the direction of block with your mouse (preferable) or keyboard. As suggested above, adjust your mouse sensitivity, it might make it easier for you to block.

Otherwise, it's all practice. Try practicing in the duel server.

Complete opposite for me...

When I first started playing, I found that cranking up sensitivity was the only way to be somewhat decent at manual blocking.

There is also a setting you can change that helps some people block in the right direction. Go into control panel>mouse>Pointer options tab and select Enhance pointer precision.

Like they said, the best thing you can do is duel, duel, duel... and duel some more. Dueling is the best way to get better. Ive seen clan members get 5 times better within a week of dueling every now and then.

turning up sensitivity will give you easier direction changes (180°) while lowering it, will aid the game to better register blocks.. it's a key parameter to fine tune for your needs.

Yeah, i know some guys who play on like 4000 dpi and they block pretty much everything, and i am sitting on much much lower and still sometimes i get the wrong block...with the lower sensitivity its harder to roflcopter around, yet well playable :)

(i also blame my pad and mouse, gonna get some new one as soon as i decide which one :D)

I have my sensitivty so i can turn 360 degrees without getting my hand into an awkward position but not any higher so i don't get any wrong blocks.

Yep, its definitely a learned skill.  Keep at it

You think mouse acceleration helps in warband? I guess it can't hurt but for most other games acceleration is the devil.

The only mouse feature i've been curious about is straight line assist (angle snapping.) For FPS i prefer it off (its configurable on my Xai) but one of these days I'm going to turn it on and see if it helps in warband.

I'm really really good at trying to block one direction but having it go another. I've found my ping would affect it. I'd block but then move and lag or something would make the 2nd action register. Mostly, though, it's because I'm bad.

Sometimes I go into Native and practice in the tutorial. Set damage/speed to low so you can survive more hits and do nothing but block. Then speed things up to make things harder. It's a bit different than c-rpg, but helps with the mechanics of things. Do that for 10 minutes or so and then play. Helps me be a little less bad.

It has a little to do with mouse sensitivity, it's your mistake. I for example, regularly block left swing instead of trust. It's my own mistake has little to do with my mouse. Also most noobs (like me) have no clue what to do when they facehug an enemy with 2H sword, we completely lost it and forget what we should do. You need good concentration and idea what to do in certain situation. In most cases offense is best defense but you need to work on attack pattern, some tactics fe. how long to hold a weapon to confuse an enemy, when to realease it and such. Blocking isn't hard thing to do if you're not going against very good feinter.

Mistakes bad players make are:

1) holding attack for too long and not realeasing it on time
2) bad concentration and no attack tactics
3) lack of finer techniques like feinting, chambering
5) bad movement and positioning

Also all above is a lot easier for people up to ping 30 than it's for us with 50+ ping ;)

You just have to practice, don't change classes often, stick to one and you'll get better after some time.

Edit: Try to remember better players. It's easy to recognize them on battlefield, they wear the same armor most of the time. They have one or rarely two attack patterns, it's easy to block if you know what they'll do next ;)

Personally changing enhance pointer precision never worked for me, but some of my clan members said it helps them block in the right direction.
