Have you ever played Morrowind?
Play morrowind, use spear/halberd, cry deeply at over 90% of hits missing.

Wait - with morrowind that was the same with every weapon until you got more skill with it.

I remember going back to morrowind some time ago and I forgot how crap it was at low level to swing 100 times at 1 thing and score 5-10 hits.

Morrowind was based on rolls for whether u hit or not.

Same. Oblivion was a disappointment, but Skyrim looks very promising. They say they learned a lot from the Fallouts, and Fallout 3 was great right off the box.

Though I actually got bored of Fallout 3 alot quicker than I did Oblivion, even with mods, probably down to the combat being far worst in Fallout 3 than it was in Oblivion, that engine just wasn't made for guns and VATS got boring as hell. My main hopes are that they really have improved the AI alot in Skyrim, I know that they've definitely made alot of things unique where locations are concerned and the also have alot more voice actors so hopefully the world feels alot more diverse. The combat certainly looks better, not amazing, but good enough to keep me happy.

The (melee) combat doesn't look very impressive to me. I believe Warband has spoiled me greatly D:
I hope there are other things that will make the game interesting (for me).

Yeh, combat looks fairly boring, but oh well. At least they have cool finishers.
