Strategus History

Strategus is down for now, and probably will be down for a while.  Possibly even being wiped.  In the mean time, I think it would be fun to put together a complete history of strategus.  I will continue to edit the intro post with any additions posted later on in the thread.  I didn't really get involved in strategus until October of 2010 so any events prior to then I have no real knowledge of and would love to hear individual accounts.  There was a thread on the old forums with some information so I will start by copy pasting.

when DRZ appeared in strategus they decided to settle in the north, and that part of the map was claimed by ninjas. When DRZ set up attack on the village, Ninjas warned them to withdraw or they will attack DRZ. Thats how I think 1st proper war begun in strategus. DRZ was underestimated and taken for a small clan. While Ninja's had a lot of allies that didn't help them in time and some didn't help at all.
Ninja's fought well but lost.
After Ninja's lost their fiefs to DRZ, 2 of their allies (Coconuts and Shogunate) reacted by attacking DRZ. Coconuts had about 20k troops, DRZ in total at that time Had about 2-3k. But with lack of knowledge or money, coconuts didn't supply their armies, so about 10k of troops deserted the rest fought naked. When coconuts run out of troops, half of their territories was taken by DRZ and the other half by nK.
Shogunate 10k army came from the south, with good supply and armor. DRZ stalled/attrite their army by attacking with 1k troops every day.
Shogunate decided to negotiate peace.
Ninjas moved south and received one village from Shogunate with promise of vengeance.

Maybe I forgot few things, but I think you'll get an idea of how it was. [/color]

DRZ created a coalition that they term the UIF (united independant factions).  UIF includes DRZ, 22nd, Legio Italica, Nordmen of Fenada, Grey Order, RuConquista, STR, Crusaders of Acre and probably some more i am forgetting.  DRZ itself is a very large and active guild that has quite a large amount of nasty archers.  DRZ came up with some very good tactics usually involving flanking with archers. 

Templars were a large clan in the beginning of strategus.  Through force of arms they forged a large alliance of their surrounding neighbors, who were scared of them.  They defeated 22nd, and DRZ used 22nd's call for aid as an excuse to go after the Templar bloc, which was very powerful at that time.  The DRZ war machine made short work of the Templar block

Mercs are a large clan with a lot of fiefs that follow a strict policy of neutrality.  I imagine they are very rich due to their focus on hiring themselves out and buying fiefs.  They don't get involved in wars so they haven't wasted resources that way.

Northern Republic is 3 clans working as one:  ATS, NK, Takeda.  They have stayed neutral throughout strategus.

LLJK was wiped out by Shogunate in one of the first real wars in Strategus history.  They recently took over IRC's old territory in the south after all the troops left with the Pub Crawl.  They currently consolidate their new holdings.

The Pub Crawl was created by IRC, Caravan Guards, and Shogunate in an attempt to overwelm DRZ with a massive number of troops and also due to boredom in strategus by those 3 clans.  The pub crawl created a significant amount of havoc but eventially failed.  Clans small and large flocked to the undefended territories.  The River Pirates, Free Companies of Caladria, Knights Hospitaller, and LLJK all took up residence in the territory not snatched up by DRZ and it's allies.  The Fallen Brigade attacked the Hospitallers because their name sounded similar to Templars, even though they requested permission to cross Fallen territory.  The Hospitallers had taken fiefs on the Fallen border and the Fallen also wished to expand territory during the event. 

Fallen (along with HRE, Eastern Tsardom)went to war with UIF after the defeat of the Templar Bloc.  The decision was made due to fear that DRZ and their allies would conquor the entire map.  We used this little dispute between HRE and Nordmen as an excuse to legitimize our war with DRZ.  An offensive was launched against many DRZ targets and it failed.  Eastern Tsardom split into two clans and made peace with DRZ. 

LLJK flexed it's muscles and the other small clans in the south were destroyed.  LLJK consolidated IRC's old powerbase.

Skirmishes continued with a few forays by the Brigade into UIF territory and also an infilitration attack by Brothers in Arms, who were believed to be a UIF infilitration force.

The Turks fought a few battles of Seramish in UIF territory but were defeated by the Bum faction, believed to be a UIF proxy.  Hungry for territory but limited on resources, the Turks attacked the Bandits territory, taking a castle in a sneak attack without losing a single soldier.  The Templars, also hungry for territory and smelling weakness in the Bandits, attacked a village owned by the bandits but were defeated.  The Turks attacked the weakened village and prevailed.  The Turks weren't through yet and marched across the steppe to attack another small clan, the Centurions, defeating them and taking their village as well.    The Templars moved south in a desperate attempt to do something right and somehow ended up with a village previously owned by Band of Brothers, I don't really remember how, but it sounded like they came to some sort of agreement.   [/color]

The SeaRaiders/Nordmen of Fenada history:

It all started back when I was a lone SeaRaider, slowly recruiting recruits for my first village. The first enemy of our not yet established faction was Selechti, the strange person doing strange stuff, who tried to attack me after he realised he couldnt get any recruits from my area, as I had the better clock. Thankfully a friendly passerby did sell me his troops, and the first attack on the Nordmen could be stopped with intimidating the enemy trough numbers.
At one point and after an ugly farm weekend we had enough troops and gold to finaly take what was ours, Fenada. But as I refused to be part of the templar block, we were instantly attacked by the RS (now Gardarika), hoping to steal our village right after we took it, which we could avert.
Being thrown back due to the attack, it took some time until we were able to take on Kwynn, our second village. Even here we were attacked after we took it, this time by the LLJK hoping to steamroll us, but the shieldwall did stand strong this day, too.
The next step was taking Sargoth, right after we took it, the Pecores did show up trying to force their old claims on us, as we were weakend, but trough a combination of good mercenaries, lucky timeslot, awesome random map and being completly underestimated by the Pecores, we could win a 200vs2000 (they only had items for 500, though).
After all this attacks after we took something, we thought to ourselves "fuck it", and just hired the Mercs to take Curin Castle for us. But now it was boring, no enemy in sight, no war going on.
Being fully established in our small realm, we began looking for allies. Joining the templar block was out of question, as that would have led to us being unable to raid anything in the near future. Talks with the RRC and Serfs were started to form a Republic of the North, but didnt bear fruit as we refused to ally their allies, and the Serfs insulted our friends, the DenBitre.
With them delivering us a Casus Belli, and nothing better to raid than Serfs (maybe monks, but they were out of stock), we prepared our ships to sail west. But as we needed all able man on the ships, and being worried about a templar intervention, we began looking for allies on the other side, and approached the DRZ, which whom we had friendly relations since they won the Ninja war, simply asking them if they are yet bored with their peace. As the 22nd did plan their counter strike against the templars at the same time, it was more than welcome to them that we were not on their enemies side.
With the Serfs only owning villages, they had more troops than us, but were heavily outgeared by our SeaRaiders in banded armor, leading to a short and brutal raid, which ended with total annexation of them by us, with the aid of our old friends the DenBitre. During this time, the 22nd and Gardarika took out the RRC, preparing for a strike on the Templar core. After a few battles, the templars switched to using the doctine of combined ingame and forum whine to conter the battlefield strategies of the others, it was not that effective. While the armies of templars and few of their allies were tied down in the north, the DRZ came by sea, taking out D'Hara, Roses (completly unaware to the war of their allies) and Legio by surprise. D'Hara and Legio did surrender, saving themselves from the unwanted war the templars brought onto them, will the Roses did decide to go down with at least putting up a formal fight, trying to save face after they wasted troops on neutral fiefs instead of helping their allies.
Now with the templar block eliminated and half the eu-population being fiefless, the forum whine for a reset did grow big enough so 3 unaligned factions just threw all their troops at our cities, not even trying to defeat us, just (rage?) quitting with a few big battles.
Now, the Fallens, the "enemies" of the templars who used our war to gain neutral fiefs in templar territory tried to snitch too many of these 3 factions now empty fiefs, thinking they had any right to them as they didnt fight any of the armies themselves, tried to force us to give them what was rightfully ours. We refused, and the Fallens did show their true face as templars without moustaches and joined their former "enemies" in fighting with us.
This last war did start interesting, our cities were under control of the Pubcrawl (the 3 quitting factions new faction), we were short on man and material and all the border regions were under coordinated attack. Yet we managed to hold the line, losing nearly nothing to the enemy, and entrenched ourselves while slowly retaking our cities, gaining back our strength. For some strange reason, the Fallens did allow us to recover there, entrenching themselves, too, throwing away their only window of opportunity to win the war. With the Pubcrawl cleaned out of most cities, we managed outproduce the Fallens by far, shifting the balance of power back to our side, and with every day they wait, we get even more stronger, until we can crush them like the bug they are, finaly bringing peace back to Calradia.

The Ninja clan's desperate plea for help and an account of the first war in strategus

Wikileaks just released this desperate plea of help from Ninja Thomek to the other clans, it's from the beginning of strategus, near the end of the first war. :-)

It was sent to all the major clan-leaders around the 8th of september 2010.

Dear friends.

First things first. The war with the invading DRZ is nearing its end with victory to the invaders.

They came out of the blue, like small green dots, attacking at the heart of ninja territory. (Jayek) I warned them to back off, telling them what they were doing but they were unmovable. They were extremely aggressive, and coordinated their attacks well. freezing my troops, (then canceling battles) with superior numbers of players.

The reason they came to Ninja-land was that they saw a map with an "unclaimed" area.

What now? The Ninjas have about 500 men left, as we speak, just locked in a battle against 97..

I requested help early on, but it was usually to little or too late.

What I ask of you:
A coordinated action, containing forces from all the big clans and alliances, teaching the DRZ a lesson and forcing them to re-evaluate their claims. If everyone would send a force big enough/strong enough relative to their factions size, none of you would loose an edge over the others.

Reasons for it:
1. An exercise in warfare. The DRZ are a tough enemy. They have good communications, and seem very capable in every respect. The lessons learned here could be invaluable later on. Both in game mechanics, and all their implications.
2. I would not be surpriced if the DRZ quickly can become a major power in Calradia. A hard strike on them now, or soon, would weaken them enough that it would take weeks before they attempt anything again.
3. In the long game, you will stand a better chance of winning.
4. I will cite a modified version of a famous poem:

First they came for the peasants, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a peasant;
Then they came for the Ninjas, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a Ninja;
Then they came for the Coconuts, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a Coconut;
Then they came for the Nordmen of Fenada, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a Nordman of Fenada;
Then they came for me--
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

I'm sure you will find reasons against it, but if you ask me, this is the time to give a very dangerous clan a hard kick in the balls.
The faster the better.

I made a channel in irc called #warcouncil where I hope we can discuss this matter further, and coordinate actions. You are all welcome there without promises. At this point in time the Ninjas cannot offer much in return beyond our swords in battle. In the end we are content if we can keep our dark Ninja Fortress somewhere on the map

We'll I want to make the "Deal" they offered public and write a short history of the war from Ninja point of view.

The DRZ came onto us out of the blue, striking at claim Jayek with no warning or communication. I managed to track down their leader, and told them to stop or they would face war.

(The reason for their attack was presumably a map made earlier with no marked claims in our area..  :roll:  I was alarmed when I saw that map at the Uxhal conference.. On the other hand I was ignorant of the mysterious DRZ, which i never saw much of in 3 months playing cRPG. I simply didn't know they were the largest russian clan around, or else I might have yielded early..)

Day after Uxhal they attacked Jayek, and I let them do it, simply in order for them to wear down both themselves and AI Jayek before I attacked. After randomizing DRZ troops for a day, they started to get a drift on how randomizing and warfare worked. Quickly they adopted the  "1/10 lockdown by numbers" strategy. Where they simply froze all our movement and hindered us to reinforce and consolidate our movements. The Ninja administration was not ready for this, and we could simply not react quick enough because we were not yet established on TS and irc channel. War in strategus is a 24/7 game, and dealing with it takes a serious toll on the life and quality of sleep of the players.  :-)

After this they simply continued their strategy, beating us in battles, by:
1. Economical advantage (gear/more player based income/not wasting gold on taking ai fiefs like ninjas)
2. Crew trained in tactics from Native clanbattles/leaders
3. Former experience in fieldbattles, of what works etc.

I don't know for sure, but I have a feeling some of them have experience from the typical space-empire browsergames.

It was also a great advantage for them that they early understood the recruiting system, and they were probably there every hour to recruit. (This system is now changed though)

The "Deal" and negotiations.
After Ninjas began to understood how powerful DRZ were we offered them some of our claims. (Ismirala, Ismirala castle and Curaw, Curaw was perhaps a bit far fetched, but nonetheless. :-)

At our meeting today, they were as well offered Fearichen (Already taken by them, but peace offered in return)

The offer they made to us was as follows:
"Leave your/our land with a 600 man army + peace". It is an offer of nothing, and a simple insult.

Therefore, my friends, the war rages on.

The Ninjas might be beaten for land, but we cannot die, (Neither can you) we have more friends than you do, (some haters too i reckon, but we love you still :-) and we will pop up and make love to your skull with our katanas when u least want it. xD

In any case, we still respect you, as soldiers, diplomats and generals. But we hope you are still humans, to understand our rage.

2.1) "They made the RS take one of our villages" hmmmmmm. Really? See they took it of their own volition because they were not aware of the Strategus claims map. So after they took it as I know the RS and I knew the Shogunate (at that time at least) I brokered a deal to avoid war with RS and then again by extension their DRZ allies. This deal involved the RS being allowed to hold the village for a few days to recoup their losses before they would hand it back to the Shogunate. We the 22nd at our own cost would then help them take an alternate village. Of course after the Templars took all of our villages we were unable to support this agreement so as far as I am aware the Shogunate simply ended the deal and attacked RS without any communication.

Oh look more evidence! (hope you do not mind Black Corasair but it is hardly an important convo anymore)

Unfortunately they accepted the deal on Teamspeak so there is no record. Of course they claimed I forced them to accept later on and used that as a justification for why our mutual defence pact was no longer valid and so they therefore did not have to help against the Templars. Of course I always thought it odd that that only came up in the face of great opposition.


I would also like you to notice the level of dedication to our mutual defence pact that I exibited in that conversation with Corsair. Mentioning several times that if RS went against you then we would be forced to act against them.

3) Guess you are all idiots then. Because after I saved you two times from a foe superior to you in numbers, skill, grinding ability, strategic thinking, honour, respect and class you went and attacked them anyway like the colossal idiots you are. Oh and what happened? Despite your powerful allies, two of the most powerful factions in the game? Oh yea like I warned you going up against DRZ got you all fucked


I always knew it was smart to keep records, see I abide by my deals and my words so it means if I keep a record of them when people start lying about the truth I have something to back me up. Of course I do not expect everyone to believe me, maybe I just forged all this!

History of the D'Haran Legion - from Lord Braeden

A long time ago, Strategus was a closed beta.  Only those with invites were inside, which meant even in the enormous clans there might be only a few members.  For D'hara, a clan numbering three at that time, the odds of getting in before the map was claimed were few.  However, against all odds, I got in, though I was alone.  After finding some empty space to recruit under a completely different system, I managed to amass an army of just over 300, and equip them quite abysmally.  Villages at that time were quite weak, but it still had 500 soldiers and more money than I did.  Still, not wanting to fall behind and full of D'Haran pride, I attacked.

At that time, the sides weren't limited to how many people they could hire.  The computer would hire literally anyone who signed up, and they could all play.  So when it came to the actual battle, we had 60 people on the server, but they had 90.  But the AI's hiring of everyone who signed up didn't help it, and since I hired all the good players first, especially the Mercs (who killed half the enemy alone), Templar, and others who will be added when I can get back in Strategus to check the hiring list.  Through discipline and superior ranged firepower, we slaughtered, losing only half our inferior force.  Istiniar was ours.

From there, the numbers of the army grew quickly, though the money still did not.  As I was the only member of D'Hara in Strategus, we weren't making insane income off my limited play.  However, then Ozin got in, and suddenly our income was doubled.  Up until that time, only villages had been taken in game.  The Mercs had 6 or 7, the Templar a similar number, IRC was rolling in them, but we only had our one, because above 1, you had to pay upkeep.  Having just one meant we weren't losing half our income, since we didn't have the advantage of a dozen members in game.  So, needing money and being possessed of insanity, we decided to be the first to take a castle and assaulted Maras Castle with a troop count equal to its garrison and equipment decidedly inferior.

We won that battle as well, with the help of the Mercs again, as well as a significant showing by ATS and other NA groups who fought exceedingly well despite EU ping (in the days prior to an NA strategus server).  D'Hara was the first group to take a castle, and we rejoiced in it.  I hadn't even believed we'd take it, myself, expecting to only damage the garrison to prevent it from making money faster than us.  But it was ours, and we were eager to keep it.

From there we quickly expanded into the other villages, though careful to keep a powerful army at Maras.  From time to time a group would show up intent on taking part of our claims, but we were able to run them off either through auto-calcing their armies or diplomacy.  To name a few, the SlavWarriors, Grey Order, Murtagh's army, and the Nemesis clan were all among those either talked or fought ought.  (SlavWarriors were actually banned out for cheating their way into the closed beta en masse.)

D'Hara grew to hold all our traditional lands when I got bored of defending and autocalcing.  When the Templar put out a call for crusade, I dropped everything, left D'Hara, and marched on the 22nd with my bodyguard.  There was no resistance, sadly, so that quickly grew boring too.  I came back to D'Hara shortly after, selling my village to LLJK for a decent sum of gold.  However, I wasn't able to stand our new arrangement with the Guard of Istiniar, being more of an absolute power kind of guy, so I got bored again and wanted to cut back on my playtime, so I left.  Why they keep letting me come back, I'm not sure, but I am the king of wanderlust.  Anyhow, I left to witch hunt, launching various attacks on other groups which were small but enjoyable.  However, it wasn't quite fair to Ozin, who never wanted to be a leader.  Shortly thereafter, D'Hara fell to the UIF following a lightning speed invasion and Ozin disappeared, leaving Gavin of the Istiniar Guard in command of the army, which then surrendered to attempt to save a remnant of D'Hara.

At that point, things sort of died off for D'hara, until the UIF began to slowly return lands to the Istiniar Guard under terms of the surrender agreement.  However the faction went inactive quickly, and soon there was no one in command of the Legions nor really active in the region.  After some time and discussion, I made my peace with the Guard of Istiniar and returned to D'Hara, maintaining the treaty with the UIF and splitting our territory into two sections, D'Haran and Guard of Istiniar territory.

At that point the freeze hit.

Burning Bridges: the BRD experience in Strategus - from Kalam

I'll share my experiences, from a smaller clan that doesn't have any fiefs.

The Bridgeburners entered Strategus just before the First Calradian World War started. We were a tiny, unknown (I think there were about five of us) new clan among a sea of them with no real idea of the diplomatic relations at the time or the inner workings of the game. What we did do, in order to familiarize ourselves with the game, is fight in every battle we were accepted in. We met Kesh and his clan then, and he joined us and filled us in on what he knew. We were intent on taking a single village and keeping it. There were numerous offers of vassalage, but we wanted to see what we could do on our own first.

RandomDude and the Fallen Brigade helped us build our first small army of about 1500. It was right around then that the 22nd, backed by hired Mercs, attacked Templar Bloc territory while The Nordmen of Fenada and DenBitre attacked Those Grubby Serf lands. We figured that somewhere in all those battles was an opportunity for us to take some land.

A clan whom we wrongly assumed was also a small and unaffiliated like we were took Haen from RRC. Preliminary scouting told us that there were only about 300 troops in Haen, and a look around the area showed no possible reinforcements. At the time, we didn't know about chain link reinforcing. We swelled our troops to 2000 and came to an agreement with RRC. We attacked and received mostly Caravan Guard, D'Haran, and Templar fighters.

We were issued a warning from the 22nd, stating that 'you don't know who you're dealing with'. This was true. We didn't. Still, we thought we'd take it anyway since we already started the fight and they still had 300 troops. In the last few hours before the fight, they received reinforcements that put their numbers at 3000+.

We entered the battle with a small group in ventrilo, and despite our inexperience, managed an almost 1:1 K/D thanks to the advice and performance of Fiq Al Mata, Ozin, RandomDude, our archers, and a few other veterans- in spite of the fact that the Gardarika roster was made up of highly organized DRZ fighters.

It's after this that we realized that Druzhina was backing a few different clans aligned with the 22nd, and there's enough in the old threads about Kesh's 'conspiracy theories', most of which proved true.

We continued to fight for the Templar Bloc, and overwhelming defeat after defeat from a lack of equipment and general incompetence on their part taught us what not to do. It's in the defense of Those Grubby Serfs that we came across the Cavalieres and formed the still unknown Free Companies of Calradia with them and RRC, though RRC disappeared shortly after. We continued to fight until D'Hara was attacked- we reinforced them until we were told that they had accepted the UIF's (quite reasonable) terms of surrender. We stopped fighting and started recruiting once again.

After Ozin's disappearance, D'Hara offered us a place in their council, but we wanted to make sure we had something to bring to them first. It was about then that IRC announced their land grab. There were a lot of deals and misunderstandings in the air, but the short of it is that we took Iqbayl and Fishara. LLJK took the vast majority of the land, with the Hospitallers in the east. The Fallen went after the Hospitallers, and we assumed that someone or other was going to come after us, and it'd be better to have a city than two villages.

In addition, we wanted to have experience coordinating the attack and defense of a city, so we attacked Bariyye- an LLJK city. We concentrated our small force, gave up the villages, and planned for the siege. We'd contacted numerous clans and had fully expected ATS and RS to fight for us, given the fact that a lot of us played on the 80 frequently together.

We were wrong and found ourselves facing them instead. However, Druzhina and the Strangers proved both approachable and dependable. They supplied a majority of the archers that let us take Bariyye and later in our attempt to hold it. On a whole, we lost the small land grab skirmish with LLJK due (we believe) to a lack of troops and proceeded to go back to D'Haran territory.

It's at this point the freeze hit.

After the great crusade resulting in the capture of the 22nd's homelands there was a time of peace for the Templars, we faced a few minor skirmishes with the fallen brigade during this time but major confrontation was not to be found. Peace, in calradia, existed to me.

A rumor grew however, the 22nd were regrouping, a few of there men were spotted passing close to our lands, armed but with small numbers, perhaps they were testing our defenses, perhaps scouting. From the village of Chide i reported this to the grandmaster but they had slipped away before we could capture them.

Then came the news. The leaking of the merc/22nd contract to capture the rcc lands and the conquest of the area. In these times many factions saw their chance to seize land and power. The mercs struck with deadly force, take the majority of the area with ease and transferring it to the 22nd. The Templars, allies of the rcc responded with armies that were gathered quickly and marched to the north. It was at this time that Growl departed, and the council was announced.

In the beginning there were 15+ council members, with no clear leader nor any policy or system of management in place.
Our campaigns in the north were ineffective, we faced armies 1/10th the size of ours consisting of great warriors and archers who although they would loose the battle, would inflict great losses. And so it was, with each skirmish our numbers grew less as the 22nds men multiplied. Theories circulated as to who supported them, if it was the fallen, or perhaps the mercs themselves with which Growl had so much confrontation.

Then the assaults on our lands began, a fief we would loose then retake. A day later it would be assaulted by a new army, which would then be reinforced at the final hour, doubling their numbers. We had no supreme command to coordinate our efforts, no matter how hard one of us may try, we could not gather the men.

Calling upon our allies to come to our aid the Dharan legion with Legio amassed an armies of over 10,000 men and marched for the north to liberate the rcc fiefs and the Templar villages. They faced however the same problem that had faltered the Templars, locked down at every possibility, facing an army who controlled the battlefield, utilizing all possible methods, wether they were intended by the almighty or not, to gain the advantage. Superior tactics and team work shone brightly those days.

Looking still to our allies we found that the Kingdom of regalis was deserted, a shadow of what it was. Empty and baron there was no help to be found there. And so it came to pass, the 22nd and their allies continued to push us back. As far as chide we fell and for some time the assault stopped. It was at this point that the sea raiders, den bitre and the grey order began to expand i believe. In the south there was peace still.

Dharan and legio returned to their homelands, disappointed at their lack of success and laying the blame on the Templars for not escorting their armies or covering them from the lock downs that they faced. Then Druzina struck, capturing Dharan lands without a fight and legio quickly surrendered following a brief siege of Yalen.

Under the promise of glory, protection and the return of their lands Legio and Dharan turned to the 22nd and their allies joining what is now known as the UIF. United Independent Factions

Our stratian allies remained true of heart and stood fast against the swelling numbers of enemies at their doorsteps.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation in the north Shogunate and Guards began to respond, Templars receiving reinforcements from the shogunate meant we were able to bolster the defense of Uxhal and Veluca.

During this time My self and Rubicon worked tirelessly to gather members. our roster was in disarray with member activity dropping by the day, the council itself had shrunk to around 4 members. Myself, Rubicon TomMyyY and Tybox were the only ones left.

Around this item also the Fallen seized Grunwalder Castle from the Templar Homelands. The noose was tightening around our necks.

Then the Pubcrawl began, Our allies in the south, Shogunate and the Caravan Guards, with whom we had been ever waiting formed this vast army with the IRC. they claimed they were tired of strategus and were finished, forming this as a way to gather XP and that was all. They went from Town of Town of our enemies destroying all they found until their numbers were gone. A bitter blow to the Templars who had hoped their allies may have come in their final hour.

And so the Final struggle began, through the use of many different factions the UIF were able to slip though our defenses, they used neutral players who they knew we would not attack to enter our lands and reinforce themselves. They attacked repeatedly and although we would recapture a village for a day they would return with greater numbers each time.

Finally the villages fell. We pulled all we could spare into Uxhal and made ready the defenses, Veluca fell following a long struggle but the Siege of Uxhal was a bloody one. The holy cities walls were soaked in blood.

Finally Viyncourd Castle, the chapter house and place of Residence of the Grandmasters fell to the UIF and the Templars went into exile.

From this day on a stopped keeping track of events, we settled with teh guards on the lower Steppes of Calradia, waiting till we had recruited enough to crusade again. A brief expedition against the Bandits ended in disaster when they received the support of our enemies, yet they fell to the Turks the next day without a fight as we had bled them during the night.

Searching for a home, we came across the Band of Brothers who were leaving Calradia and to us they left the village of Sekhtem that we now call home.

We had begun to establish ourselves once again, gathering our scattered members to the village, then the freeze struck.

It all started in Native Warband.

This is the story of the first North American Guilds to enter strategus.....

At the time of CRPG, when it was first created, the community consisted mostly of EU players with a few dedicated North Americans.

CRPG itself held little attention in the beginning until it was announced that a new form would be arriving, a strategus beta release would offer clans the chance to compete for land much like single player.

Immediately many of the old beta NA guilds made the conversion now that were was something to fight for. The first to enter the delayed strategus launch was NK, followed by ATS and Takeda...forming the majority of the North American Players in strategus. With no land, scattered players, and low level players with only one NA server to play on, we three major guilds from native started talking.


Almost everything was already claimed by EU clans, and we realized that there was no possible way for us to enter strategus at this point on a level playing field. The delayed invites allowed guilds to get territory with minimal competition. It was decided that the only way for us to achieve our goals was to first show to the rest of the eu clans at the time that we were not working together, thus creating no threat to those around us.

The next objective was to find territory that would be rather easy to take. Upon strategus beta release, there were two types of guilds. Ones who had land with the members to hold it, and ones who got land because they got there first. The land with the fewest members and the most surrounding, un-taken, land turned out to be CoCo and Ninja's to the north, territory now belonging to the Northern Empire and Drz.

The third objective was most important. At the time, the only way to get troops was to recruit 2 per person every hour 1 minute past, that is if you didn't already have land. Without troops, there was no way to gain land on strategus, you were useless without an army. The only advantage of the three NA guilds was that ATS had more active members than most, creating a surplus of farmed money in strategus. The important part however, was dividing a way to get troops from an EU guild without funding someone who would use it against us later. The largest EU guild on strategus at the time was Templars whose power seemed daunting to everyone. Their leader Growl was approached by myself where I introduced myself, fluffed some of my active member count, then proceeded to try and befriend him for troops.

An offer was presented instead, Growl would provide troops for an alliance, with that a warning was presented as well, those who did not ally with him might find themselves crusaded against later. His offer was refused and a sum of 55k(a lot of money at the time for templars) was paid for 1000 troops. The NA guilds had received the troops they so desperately needed.

In the meantime, while ATS was acquiring troops, the other two NA guilds were dividing by misinformation the territory they wanted. Takeda went and made a defensive alliance with CoCo and Ninja, convincing their new allies that NK and ATS were small and bothersome to Takeda as well.

NK convinced Ninja that they did not want territory that CoCo had, but rather wanted the land south of their border. What neither CoCo nor Ninja knew was that not only did these NA guilds have an army, it was well equiped, large, and organized.

With the 1000+ man army, it was time for some battles to begin. It was agreed upon that it would be best to take some territory untaken by ATS who had not yet been clearly known by ninja or CoCo. This would prevent conflict with those nearby for a longer period allowing more time if needed to acquire troops that might be lost. To our surprise though, with the help of the 3 NA guilds, and a few mercs including RS, within 24 hours ATS had taken 4 villages with less than 200 loses. Now that we had a source for troops, we gave 400 troops to NK to start their approach on CoCo, and 300 troops to Takeda.

Takeda wisely let a small un organized clan take a village in which they had only 14 troops remaining after the battle, and became an easy pickup for themselves later. They then reinforced NK as they started in on taking over the rest of the region.

This new North American power now had territory that rivaled most in strategus, and would have continued to grow had not a new Russian power arrived around the same time. DRZ also figured out that Ninja was a weak guild holding more land than they could really defend. Outnumbered and out matched, the ninja clan was wiped out on two fronts.

Grateful for the accidental help, DRZ offered a defensive merc battle pact with NK, it was still unknown that NK was in league with ATS and Takeda, so it was officially announced that these three guilds would become the Northern Republic. The defensive merc battle pact was shared over all within the republic, and DRZ became our first friendly neighbors.

This pretty much sums up the rise of the Northern Republic...we continued to solidify our lands by taking the rest of the neutral territory and beginning to fortify. Templars never made good on their threat, CoCo was never seen of again, and Ninja moved down south into shogunate territory. Rumors spread that a wipe would come to strategus, so it was agreed upon that rather than make enemies for no reason, we would maintain a neutral policy until then, gathering information on all other guilds who held land, and those who did not. Sadly, this lack of involvement in battle caused 2/3rds of the republic to go inactive....stay tuned for the fall of the Republic, and the Rise of the Empire.

The Cavalieres' Strategus Endeavours

A long time in a land far far away, Flawless and Huey Newton met up on the 120 battle server. We created the 1st Lancer Brigade who eventually became the Cavaliers and later CavalierEs. For a few weeks in august and september he and I were the only two in the clan. Eventually we got a slow trickle of recruits though it took time (Most new players went to the bigger already established clans). Eventually we had a grand total of FOUR members. Around this time we came into contact with "Those Grubby Serfs". After some talks we merged with them. For a few days it was nice owning land, however our time of joy was short lived. Not even a week after we had merged, DRZ/Searaiders/DenBitre launched a massive assault on us and RRC. It was this time also, that I came into my first encounter with the Templars who we were allied with. Templar_Farrix, Master_Phoenix of the Serfs and I did most of the work as far as gathering troops, gold and items for our army. Unfortunately we were out-matched by the very well geared and skilled searaiders. Fighting with EU ping didn't help either. For a few days we spent hour after hour desperately trying to form a plan to drive them out of the lands before we lost all of our villages, but to no avail. On October 13th 2010 we lost the war to them. It was around this time that Kalam of the Bridgeburners contacted us about possibly forming a coaliton of independent factions. Essentially a bunch of small clans acting as one large group to get more done. Flawless and I thought on it, and decided it was a good idea. Thus, the Free Companies of Calradia were born. The Cavaliers, Bridgeburners and Roaming Ranger Company came together as one. Although RRC disappeared shortly after. For a few weeks, we sat back and watched Calradia descend into darkness and treachery. One after the other, clans from all corners of the land allied with DRZ were crushed.

Soon after, Pub crawl arose, and IRC was having a land giveaway in the sarranid desert. We decided to go straight for it. We had out eyes on Iqbayl and Fishara. We also contacted a certain someone about having Bariyye (a city), but apparently were not worth it because of our size. Instead, LLJK got it. We attacked Bariyye anyways. We took it with the help of the very people who crushed the Cavalieres and grubby serfs in the beginning. DRZ and Str sent alot of good mercs to fight for us and for that we are eternally grateful. We also had to fight alot of the people we had become good acquaintances with (RS and ATS). Well, what happened next was, we took on a clan of 150+ members, with maybe 11 between BRD and Cavalieres. They attacked us back and we took them with a better ratio than 1 for 1. However we had less troops due to our smaller infrastructure. After this experiment we headed back to D'Haren land and began recruiting once more. Shortly after chadz froze Strategus.
However its mythos lives on.

Part 2 of ATS Strategus History

A state of neutrality within a time of Conflict:

With the Northern Republic officially announcing its stand in the world of Caladria, many other Guilds were also paving their way. To fully understand the actions of the Republic, first you have to understand the situation they were presented with...


Strategus was still fairly new to crpg, but this Republic needed to figure out how exactly it was going to organize its leadership. Without leadership, a large mass of players is nothing more than a gun without bullets. It looks scary but all you can really do is hit people with it. It was decided that each guild within the republic would have one leader doing representation for its members. All decisions, whether diplomatic, or tactical would be cleared with all other leaders, unless under immediate threat.

The leaders would be Akmar of NK, Destin of Takeda, and Ecko (myself) of ATS.

I was the only leader of the three who played darkfall, a game much like strategus accept real-time and with magic. I witnessed firsthand the natural course of politics in a game that gave clans the opportunity to compete for land. With the so called rumored "wipe" to strategus coming, it was my feeling that the Republic should take a stance of neutrality, and not take sides in whatever the situation. The other leaders also agreed that it was within the best interest of the Republic to stay quiet and gather information about all other guilds within strategus. When the wipe came, we would enter the new blank map without any enemies, and potentially many friends open to trading.

I knew from darkfall, and the other leaders came to also realize that many of the guilds in strategus, who could not rightfully defend their land on their own, would soon sign up with other guilds to form alliances in the attempt to fend off aggressors. I was right.


In the early days, there was only a couple of large land owning clans. IRC to the south, Mercs in the middle, DRZ to the north, the Northern Republic to the North East, Fallen to the East, and Templars to the West. There were also a few smaller land territories owned by such clans as the 22nd, RCC, Legio, Remnants of Stratia, D’haran Legions, Shogunate, and Guard.

The first war of Caladria began with Growlz, the leader of Templars and his effort to crusade others.

With Templars being one of the first largest territory owners in the game, many who came into  strategus agreed to pledge allegence. In doing so they also sealed their fate. Growlz lead the Templars and his allies to first wipe out the 22nd Battalion and he did it with ease and without mercy. Although a good field commander, I do not think he fully understood what was to come. Though he at the time had the largest alliance and territory under control, he began fighting with others more and more without ever gaining complete victory.

Templar wars broke out with guilds like the Fallen, and Mercs, often with the exchange of small victories.

Growlz was the type of leader who had ambitious goals, and to achieve them he amassed large numbers within Templars, with no requirement to join other than spelling the tag correctly. This would come back to haunt Templars later, as it does for any clans who do such things.

The crusade on the 22nd had left them without land, but they were not gone. They retreated to a friend, a friend that was also growing. DRZ, The Republic's neighbors grew quite numerous, and did not see eye to eye with the Templars, especially with the mentality of crusading smaller guilds for the sake of role play. 

The threat was clear to most, and especially Growlz, who seemed to keep his cool and confidence of his allies. He was not declaring war on clans based on logic, he was declaring based on role play and to feed his power. It made him a variable to many who were not in his alliance. This particularly worried the Republic, if not many others.

Though confident in our numbers and players, the Northern Republic needed EU coverage. We did not see any feasible guilds at the time to bring into the Republic, so we did the next best thing. As said in part one, the Republic made a defensive mercenary pact with DRZ, meaning that if we were attacked in eu hours, DRZ was obligated to fight on our side, and same for us if they were attacked on NA time zones. This did not mean that we shared troops, or any sort of resources other than time.
This agreement was made to ensure our neutrality with the rest of the map, but at the same time to create a deterring force against anyone who had ambitions. It had the effect intended, however it did not stop the first Caladrian world War.


While Growlz continued to feuded with mainly Fallen and Mercs, DRZ began creating their own alliance. It was time for them to step in, and when they did, they fought like no one else had so far.

In an effort to delay the inevitable, DRZ paid the Mercs to attack RCC, an ally of Templars in an attempt to give land back to 22nd. The Mercenary contract was leaked and Templars found out who the ordered the hit.

CWW1 had begun.

DRZ used every advantage they could, not only did they have numbers, but they knew weak game mechanics. Small armies were used to hold the enemy's larger ones in place, so the larger armies could hit Templar weak points. Those weak points were not Templars themselves, but their allies.

In an attempt to gain assistance against a threat to all, The Northern Republic was approached in this time of need by Growlz to assist against this threat who clearly knew no shame. We did not know what was worse, DRZ who would use the game against players, or Growlz who would throw people under the buss like pawns. We maintained neutrality, and gathered more information while building forces.


Growlz, being the ambitious leader he was, would not risk Templar safety for his allies. It was a brilliant but also evil tactic used by DRZ, in which they went for the enemy's allies, forcing them to either abandon the Templar alliance, or submit to destruction. Only a few stood by Growlz, many fled in the hopes to keep something. But in the end, not even Growlz stayed.

Half way during the invasion of DRZ, and their new found alliance called UIF, Growlz disappeared.  There have been rumored reasons to why, but it is my belief that he knew it was the end before it even had ended.

Templars and the remaining allies were wiped out. Many players in templars faded out of crpg, some remain to this day, not all in Templars of course. Those other guilds who survived either joined up with UIF, or left the game. Those who did remain however were not blind. DRZ's reputation was renowned for its aggressive behavior and ways of "abusing" mechanics.

DRZ and their alliance had now become a super power with all the land they took over from Templars. This threat divided Caladria. Though UIF shared a common enemy with the Mercs and Fallen, they themselves were not allied.

The Mercs like the republic also maintained a neutral policy; however they did sell themselves to the highest bidder.

Fallen started taking vassals, building their own version of an alliance.

In the end however, tensions grew as they always do, and the second Caladrian War was about to begin, this time between rivals of a past enemy.


While clearly there was action to be had in the world of Calardia...the lack of involvement by the Republic created a lull for players within. Though it went unnoticed by EU players, it did not for NA, particularly myself. ATS continued to get stronger and stronger, equipping large numbers of troops with gear that most of strategus had never seen in a battle. NK, and Takeda, though smaller, also equipped their troops; however they no longer actively played in crpg. It was a growing concern that in order to maintain a strong presence in strategus, you needed to stay active in crpg.

Conversations started to spread, and ideas of the republic fading out. With the destruction of the Templars and their alliance, there was also opportunity. Small remaining and some new guilds were looking territory in which they could safely recruit troops, without having to pay high taxes.

The Republic immediately pounced on the opportunity, particularly ATS. The idea of finding small guilds to tax brought comfort that perhaps the Republic did not have to depend on activity in crpg as a source of income. We were wrong. The amount of gold gained could not cover the costs of the equipment and troop upkeep needed. 
Something needed to be done. Though Akmar of NK and Destin of Takeda were inactive waiting for strategus to be reset, it was starting to seem that the "wipe" would never come; therefore we could not afford to slow down.

They could not be convinced. Not trying to anger my fellow leaders, i maintained the basic idea that you cannot own land that you cannot defend. Though if attacked we could surely defend ourselves, how long could we go on? I began baiting the other leaders with talks of merger, each time receiving a no.

Fear of news spreading of the weakness of the Republic, it was time to start plans of take over.  -
The operation was called Order FF. The plans of Order FF were created by myself, and a new Commander of ATS named Goretooth. It was determined that to successfully take over the Republic, we would have to take the territory from NK and Takeda as fast as possible, but we decided that giving it to ATS alone was a poor choice. It would make us a larger threat to the rest of the world, attention that we did not need. We needed another clan, if not two to take over the territory, and they needed to have the trust we came to rely on with NK and Takeda.

The NA community, as large as it was, was also limited to clans that could be trusted. We had history with the Remnants of Stratia, but they were one of the guilds who stuck with Templars to the end, and we did not need to give DRZ a reason to look at us. Though loyal, they were not a viable option.

There were also other guilds such as BRD, and others who were too small, and seemed to be more concerned with making themselves stronger, rather than a larger power. If the Republic was going to be replaced, it needed to be replaced by clans who would have 100% trust in each other, and commit fully into making the alliance stronger, not just themselves.

The first guild we found was Hospitaller, a small North American guild that made the mistake of trusting Growlz, but never held any land. They were a small ambitious group that bought troops from the Republic in the hopes to gain land for them down south, but were ambushed by Fallen.

Since they had nothing left, we decided to get to know their leadership; it would be unwise to declare some an ally without knowing their personality. Surprised, we found the mentality of their leadership was much like our own, giving them lots of potential to grow as a guild. With the assistance of Goretooth, the leader of Hospitaller, Peppovich, and his right hand man, Devilize, undertook steps to increase their strength. Before they were approached it was decided they would become one of the guilds to replace NK and Takeda.

Once Goretooth and I spoke to Hospitaller, and revealed Operation FF, we gained a new ally. Hospitaller grew rapidly, but not in ways like Templars. However, it was kept secret that Hospitaller was on such friendly terms, to prevent any suspicion if anyone was keeping a close eye.
It was determined that we were about a week away from implementing Order FF, and I still approached NK and Takeda in the hopes to get them to merge and have a peaceful transaction without war. Takeda seemed to be more accepting at this point, however NK was still a hold out.

War was imminent.

While this was happening, a new guild arrived into the spotlight. Eastern Tsardom, an NA guild who recently left Fallen Vassalage, and was shopping around. Though their guild did not have many active, after getting to know their leadership, it was determined that they too, had much potential. TS_Boyar_Josko and his co-leaders Timothy and Panderson were smart individuals, with different traits that could bring multiple views to the table, something not all guilds can do.  Yet their loyalty and their understanding of what ATS wanted to do seemed to be unquestionable. They too, were chosen as one of the guilds to take over NK and Takeda.


With replacements found, it was decided that this new alliance, should have a new name. Being the only NA guilds that would have land, we needed a name that represented such, but also did not limit us to just North Americans. It was settled that the alliance would be called the Northern Empire, but have the same style of leadership as the old Republic, with no official emperor.


It was 24 hours before Order FF would begin, though my commander Goretooth could not be present to begin the attacks. In a moment of one last ditch try, I decided i owed my former allies, who were unaware, a warning of impending danger from myself.

Takeda took the news very well; they decided to merge into ATS giving over all troops, gear and gold. They understood the reasoning, and they only requested they be allowed to fight in battles while still being heard within the Empire. Their terms were gratefully accepted.

NK, took the news a little harder. It was foolish of me to present to them an ultimatum; the first hour was a mixture of silence and anger. However, they returned and agreed to also merge into ATS under the same conditions of Takeda. I don't think I’ll ever be able to take back what I did, but I'll always be grateful that they handled the situation as they did.


Without any fighting, the Northern Republic was finally dead. Within one week Hospitaller and Eastern Tsardom had taken over the territory and now were one of the largest NA guilds.

The Northern Empire was able to amass an army worthy of Pub Crawl, yet it was never used.

Strategus was frozen, and all gold, troops, and territory were wiped from the game. It seemed the rumors Takeda and NK were waiting for happened after all, just not soon enough…

We were trying to establish our claims while the templars were doing this crusade thingy, because we only had very few members at the initial beta. When we were about halfway there, when some guy took gisim and claimed all our lands and claims. We hepled the grey to capture gisim for them, and became ~allies.
Shortly after Rosewood quitted due to RL issues.
Then DRZ came when we were gathering forces to go for Suno, the capital, and said:
"You can choose 1 village and hold it, and give all your lands to us including the current garrisons, to have peace. Or have war." or something alike.
With these unacceptable conditions we decided to fight them, to be jumped by DRZ, Strangers, 22nd, GREY ORDER (this really was very dissapointing to me  ), and legio a little bit aswell, but not sure.


And then Anders quitted, and the clan started to fade away, with our new leader having internet problems, me quitting cRPG due to outrageous upkeep stuff, and some other stuff.

When we first started strategus we decided to go for hanun, after many days of planning and preparing, my Knight Reinhardt(king reinhardt Of acre) attacked and we won with many a men lost(100 or so left). 5 to 10 minutes after winning our battle an army of 1000 tekada(misspelled?) clan attacked us. They had been waiting inside the village, waiting for us to weaken the village, we had 300 from village regenerating its population. With only knightly arming swords, heraldic mail with tabards and the left over gear we made our stand against plated chargers..... but to no avail. We drifted for a few days, reinhardt lost hope...

Then Lt Anders of the kingdom of the rose proposed we join them and work as vassals, we would get land and a home, we agreed. We helped them take ryibelet castle and suno, they gave the castle to us as well as ryibelet village. For a short time things were good, then war spread and DRZ attacked suno locking its hundreds of thousands of gold, making it unusable(anders fault by the way). i Was order to give troops n gear to suno, but due to school was unable to be at suno for the fight myself.. the gear i gave for 500 troops was all they had to equip 4000...then Grey Order took my castle and village at times i could not even fight back at...

for the remainder of the war I myself wandered, and gathered troops, i had about 500 when i attacked Balanli, but strategus had been froze, so despite grey order reinforcing it with 3500 troops, we couldnt fight, and the mercs on my side proceeded to poll kick grey order, whom then lost by default. That was the last action I ever did, i tend to regret how i got the village but whats done is done, the past is the past and the time is now. I fought in damn near every village in strategus and plan to do so again ;)

There is a lot of weird stuff being said in this thread, so let me clear some stuff up.

First off, my goal was always to destroy the Northern Empire.  I spent a lot of time working on the project between strat 1 and the start of strat 2.  Figuring out who would be where on the map and who would be interested in such a plan.  When strat 1 ended the Fallen Brigade leadership had a long meeting about what our goals were in strategus, taking over the entire map was impossible due to game mechanics, so we decided that being a source of chaos in the game would be considered winning to us.  The best way to create chaos, we decided, was to attempt to break-up the 2 mega alliances.  The Northern Empire and UIF.  UIF in strat 2 was a little nebulous at the time, they were saying they were disbanding but all the signs pointed to being bigger and stronger than strat 1.  DRZ was claiming that they were working solo again and so I decided to take them at their word and see if they would be interested in a joint strike against the Northern Empire.  Specially because of their place NW on the map and they wouldn't have any space to expand unless it was into NE territory.

LLJK, I could never figure out what their goals were, what their motivation was, or even who was leading them really.  All we knew was that their were a lot of them, they seemed fragmented, but a force to be reconned with.  I worked with LadyGAGA in planning some schemes to take DRZ territory and hand it over directly to LLJK in strat 1, but strat 1 died literally a day before the plan was to be implemented.  In Strat 2 I just didn't know what the fuck they were doing.  They were trying to join UIF then the NE, or at least this is what they were telling me.  So we ended up mercing for them for 50k strat gold a week.  When they couldn't or wouldn't pay up I went to ATS_Ecko and got 150k strat gold for agreeing to not merc for LLJK.  Not really intending to live up to our end of the agreement one way or the other. I could have cared less.  LLJK was doing a hell of a job fending off multiple aggressors at once.  We just laughed and laughed, we couldn't believe that Ecko had given us 150k gold for essentially nothing.

When BRD and the Mercs finally came to a peace settlement, BRD had a fat army but nowhere to take it.  So I just suggested that they attacked ATS and they would have our full support.  That's when the full invasion happened.  We moved a 10k army up into Tsardom territory to prepare for the attack, but I didn't want to blow our cover just yet.  Eastern Tsardom was shitting their pants asking what we were doing with the army.  I told them we were going to take a neutral castle just to the north of our territory.  I'm not sure how much of that they bought.  But Ecko_ATS came to me panic strickened, asking what our intentions were.  I told him that we would send our 10k army to help fight off BRDs brazen attack against the Northern Empire and that Ecko should get Eastern Tsardom to move all of their troops to help against BRD.  Eastern Tsardom leadership was obviously split on what to do.  They moved about half of their armies to the west.  The Fallen Brigade then quickly split our army into 3 smaller armies and took most of the Eastern Tsardom villages without a fight.  I even managed to convince eastern tsardom not to show up for their own battles, so we took the villages without a fight.  I don't even think most Fallen Brigade members knew that part.  We than sat a 10k army on top of Eastern Tsardom's last village, which held their last remaining army.  Basically in seige mode.  We then funneled as many troops and supplies (including ATS's 150k gold) into BRDs armies.  When NE was no more, I just happened to be in a teamspeak with all the leaders of chaos, hospitaller, occitan, ats and goretooth.  They all pleaded that we let them keep  Yruma castle and one other village (I forget the name).  I told them that they would get nothing and that they would be scattered to the four winds.  Goretooth was claiming that he would usurp Ecko and take the remaining loyal hospitaller and ATS members and form a new clan under his leadership.  When I told him no, he went berserk swearing that he'd fight me to the end of time. But in retrospect,  I think it would have been a smarter move on my part to allow these guys to keep the castle and reform; if not to keep them on my side, at least not have them be bitterly hateful enemies.

Strat 2 was a lot of backstabbing, lying, manipulating for sure.  The Fallen Brigade had truly taken it's place as the only evil clan in strategus, and we had become the most hated clan in all of strategus.  That is something I am still very proud of.

As for the middle eastern oil tycoon.  We did actually have an oil baron in the Fallen Brigade, but he wasn't from Saudi Arabia, he was from Qatar.  And we did pay for the LLJK servers for a time, after they were announced to be the official servers and Zealot was saying he couldnt pay for them anymore and that the ATS servers would come back online.

LLJK was always paranoid of me, always thinking I was scheming against them, but I never did.

The SeaRaiders/Nordmen of Fenada history: (warning, my opinion inside)

It all started back when I was a lone SeaRaider, slowly recruiting recruits for my first village. The first enemy of our not yet established faction was Selechti, the strange person doing strange stuff, who tried to attack me after he realised he couldnt get any recruits from my area, as I had the better clock. Thankfully a friendly passerby did sell me his troops, and the first attack on the Nordmen could be stopped with intimidating the enemy trough numbers.
At one point and after an ugly farm weekend we had enough troops and gold to finaly take what was ours, Fenada. But as I refused to be part of the templar block, we were instantly attacked by the RS (now Gardarika), hoping to steal our village right after we took it, which we could avert.
Being thrown back due to the attack, it took some time until we were able to take on Kwynn, our second village. Even here we were attacked after we took it, this time by the LLJK hoping to steamroll us, but the shieldwall did stand strong this day, too.
The next step was taking Sargoth, right after we took it, the Pecores did show up trying to force their old claims on us, as we were weakend, but trough a combination of good mercenaries, lucky timeslot, awesome random map and being completly underestimated by the Pecores, we could win a 200vs2000 (they only had items for 500, though).
After all this attacks after we took something, we thought to ourselves "fuck it", and just hired the Mercs to take Curin Castle for us. But now it was boring, no enemy in sight, no war going on.
Being fully established in our small realm, we began looking for allies. Joining the templar block was out of question, as that would have led to us being unable to raid anything in the near future. Talks with the RRC and Serfs were started to form a Republic of the North, but didnt bear fruit as we refused to ally their allies, and the Serfs insulted our friends, the DenBitre.
With them delivering us a Casus Belli, and nothing better to raid than Serfs (maybe monks, but they were out of stock), we prepared our ships to sail west. But as we needed all able man on the ships, and being worried about a templar intervention, we began looking for allies on the other side, and approached the DRZ, which whom we had friendly relations since they won the Ninja war, simply asking them if they are yet bored with their peace. As the 22nd did plan their counter strike against the templars at the same time, it was more than welcome to them that we were not on their enemies side.
With the Serfs only owning villages, they had more troops than us, but were heavily outgeared by our SeaRaiders in banded armor, leading to a short and brutal raid, which ended with total annexation of them by us, with the aid of our old friends the DenBitre. During this time, the 22nd and Gardarika took out the RRC, preparing for a strike on the Templar core. After a few battles, the templars switched to using the doctine of combined ingame and forum whine to conter the battlefield strategies of the others, it was not that effective. While the armies of templars and few of their allies were tied down in the north, the DRZ came by sea, taking out D'Hara, Roses (completly unaware to the war of their allies) and Legio by surprise. D'Hara and Legio did surrender, saving themselves from the unwanted war the templars brought onto them, will the Roses did decide to go down with at least putting up a formal fight, trying to save face after they wasted troops on neutral fiefs instead of helping their allies.
Now with the templar block eliminated and half the eu-population being fiefless, the forum whine for a reset did grow big enough so 3 unaligned factions just threw all their troops at our cities, not even trying to defeat us, just (rage?) quitting with a few big battles.
Now, the Fallens, the "enemies" of the templars who used our war to gain neutral fiefs in templar territory tried to snitch too many of these 3 factions now empty fiefs, thinking they had any right to them as they didnt fight any of the armies themselves, tried to force us to give them what was rightfully ours. We refused, and the Fallens did show their true face as templars without moustaches and joined their former "enemies" in fighting with us.
This last war did start interesting, our cities were under control of the Pubcrawl (the 3 quitting factions new faction), we were short on man and material and all the border regions were under coordinated attack. Yet we managed to hold the line, losing nearly nothing to the enemy, and entrenched ourselves while slowly retaking our cities, gaining back our strength. For some strange reason, the Fallens did allow us to recover there, entrenching themselves, too, throwing away their only window of opportunity to win the war. With the Pubcrawl cleaned out of most cities, we managed outproduce the Fallens by far, shifting the balance of power back to our side, and with every day they wait, we get even more stronger, until we can crush them like the bug they are, finaly bringing peace back to Calradia.

Yeah nice thread, it's great for ppl that don't know the past of each clan and why they are at war.
It also give the "view" of each others and how they believe the things happens (in the past, view of each others produce a lot of drama on TW forum!)

For myself, i remember that Templars, lead by Growl, launch a crusade against 22nd (when they were in the south and weak) that was the begining of the Great War (first world war of Calradia) then Growl left, and Templars fell apart... But 22nd had a good reason to strike them back, hopefully they find reliable ally to help them in their quest for vengeance.

In my own biased opinion the biggest reason the Templars lost to DRZ was how powerful archers were for their cost at the time. Desertion, infiltrators (?) clearing rosters, people responsible for buying equipment not being there were all less significant in deciding the war than the raw power and advantage archers had (for their cost) at the time.
