Well yeah, because space sim fans have basically shown that they are still interested in games in this genre... what's your point?

Well I would have liked it better if they didn't forgot to make some more during the last decade  :P

Been playing this a fair bit with an imperial interceptor.  its quite enjoyable but once the bonus ends i will probably run out of monies...

Wow.

I remembered playing in the closed beta of this game, and it was very disappointing.

This, on the other hand.. is amazing so far!

Just got to Tier 2, bought my Deimos. Empire ftw, one reason:

OVERDRIVE.

Holy crap I just love using plasma on my fighter, firing up the target painter module, then hit Overdrive and melt people's faces.
Huge ships will get torn to pieces in a matter of seconds, hahaha.
Last time I had this much fun in space, it was Freelancer.

Okay, so i downloaded it off steam in like 5 minutes (love my connection), got past the confusing menus and had a match or two in this.

I've found the game slows down in tier 2, mostly because the players your facing are generally more aware and their ships well equipped.  I'd suggest grinding a bit at tier 1 before buying a tier 2 ship as you need a lot more gear to be competitive.

Yeah it's like WoT.

Huge gameplay difference between tiers. Tier I is awesome, Tier II seemed to be more slow-ass and gear dependent.

Some protips:

Use interceptor (especially the one with the Microwarp engine or whatever), when you are captain in captain mode - nothing can get you, if you don't want it :)

Starting from tier2 - use weapon modifiers appropriately to greatly increase your damage output: EM (plasma) does heavy damage to shields, but low damage to hull. Heat (laser) does average damage to everything (barring addons that increase resistance). Kinetic (cannons and shit) does poor damage against shields, great damage against hull.
Using the extra damage modifier on Plasma cannons to bring down a targets shields, then switching it to do kinetic damage to finish the target off, you can kill any enemy really, really fast.

Scenarios are kindergarten, yet for some inexplicable reason people really suck at them. I mean, really, i go in a T1 fighter, everyone else is like T2-T3 frigates, i get the entire group of enemy elites chasing me, right when they appear, only to find that the rest of my team has somehow died, what?

Empire heavy fighters, especially of the Legion type, are freaking tanks, almost as tough as frigates lol.

I just tried the game now, this is a lot of fun ! Especially being shot at by 3+ enemies, activating invisibility and getting away :D
