I'm hoping the combat is at least as good as Freespace 2, if not better...

I'm hoping the combat is at least as good as Freespace 2, if not better...

Judging by the controls and the view in the video, the combat will be like in Freelancer (Which is very similiar to Freespace 1-2 fighting, just 3rd person, but you had first person in Freelancer too.) so imo the combat will be EPIC GOOD. I hope.  I played Freelancer multiplayer a lot in the old times when there was an offical server (Which just showed other servers, but it was very useful). After that was shut a lot of server disappeared (Mostly because nobody knew about them anymore.), along with a very good server where I and Christo played.
I was the first one who started -1-ing everyone, now everyone does it to everyone.

They didn't disappear, you could still connect by address, and later there was a new global server made by fans.

That server simply lost it's population, too bad.

Freelancer wasn't to bad either, I remember flying the Ironfist heavy fighter a lot in multiplayer.. Harassing traders, but that's about all I remember xD.

I'll be honest here, I simply hate people, game companies or any fucking living being that calls normal ONLINE games an "MMO". I hate them with a passion. And this is just the case here - the game is supposed to be an MMO, hell it even says so on their front page... but the second you log in you notice it's just a normal "room" based online multiplayer game.

Yes that's right, it has a "lobby" where you set your ship up, equip it and then join an instanced match of specific gamemode (ala team death match, etc). And that's pretty much all there is.
The gameplay is very very similar to Black Prophecy. The graphics are quite nice tho, have to give them that.

As for the rest, heh can't fool me with the "MMO" tag. It's not an MMO.
