I actually wondered about this a while back so i tried a build with it. I made my guy go all str and only powerstrike, I think at lvl 31 i ended with 42 str and 14 ps. I used a normal long iron mace and crushed thru shields pretty often, can't remember if I ran into some1 with a shield that i couldnt crushthru. When it came to manual blockers, I was never able to crush thru except I think 2 incidents (jumping off a ledge down onto some1 and overhead chop them).

I think dmg on a wpn for crushthru might affect the chance even thou I dont think I see ppl mentioning it when talking about crushthru. I'm gonna be looming the long iron mace 3x to test this out anyways sooo...

When it comes to manual overhead blocking the crustrough is affected by the weight of the weapon with wich you block, overhead blocking your long iron mace with a 9 kg maul will work most of the time, you will crushtrough 1-3kg swords and such. Also the weight of the weapon with wich you crushtrough is important.

im already using great maul and with 8 ps i can crushthrough every single weapon/shield in the game. im quit happy with it, cuse it does high damage. though it is slow and short if you manualblock the first   2-3 hits you'll have the oppertunity to crush him. and it feels great to do that , believe me.
i also bought a barmace but i can't crushtrough with that yet, its pretty lightweight so not that good for crushtrough.

I once picked up  a mighty barmace from the ground. (loomed 3 times) The skullcracking was legendary

But i would not recommend looming it now because it will probably loose its crushtrough in the next patch.

Perhaps the long irom mace will become the new barmace, but maybe it will loose it also. You can always heirloom a maul, and if you get tired of it you could just use it as a secondary measure for shielders, i used it as a secondary with my danish untill i got better at feinting.

Never used barmace until I also picked up a mighty one. Man that thing is op, just 5 ps and I crushed through a lot and its lightning fast. A good blocker with a mighty barmace has pretty much nothing to fear in melee.

going full str when i retire again(with like 6 agi maybe) then i'll see if i can crushthrough with barmace.

On my pure Str character i'm at 10ps and still can't reliably crush huscarls with the barmace, I think it's only happened twice.

One thing that may be of interest is that if you hold your overhead for a second and then release you are much more likely to crush than if you just spam overheads. I tested this with a friend a few months ago on a duel server, he had morningstar I had nodachi. If he spammed overheads he crushedthrough maybe 1 out of every 10 swings, if he held it for 1 second and then released he crushed every time.
