Is the exp calculated on this exactly the way it says? I.e. It says on second gen level 31 takes is 32 hours and X minutes (1030exp/min). So is it that how fast you will level with 1x all the time, or does it take average exp multi into account?

I assume it makes you de-level though right?

General Discussion / Re: Whats wrong with DTV XP/GOLD income?
« on: June 08, 2011, 03:25:46 am »
DTV was actually pretty reasonable with full income/exp.

You just need to limit it to the right kind of maps, as in its current form it is actually very hard, and requires good gear.

With 1/3rd exp/gold, there isn't any reason to do DTV other than for funsies, as you lose more money and gain less than on regular servers, generally speaking.

Since it's only fun for the hell of it when your tired of other modes, and you're penalized for playing it, why the hell would anyone want to play DTV?

Edit: one possibility would be change it back to full exp/gold, then limit DTV with river/plains/mountainous maps with no buildings/trees, and make the NPC's a little easier.

A giant melee might be a lot more fun than camping, and harder to keep going for many rounds at a time.

PS. making the rounds shorter but harder to win would be nice.

1. Running naked is bannable offense
2. Youll be able to afford decent gear later, for now its grind grind grind in low to medium gear and suffering cuz youll get raped all the time
3. Not working for ya? Go back to Cod and battlefield

youre welcome

#3 Makes no sense man, those games aren't really analogous to mount and blade. He should go back to native mount and blade if he doesn't like the grind.

@OP.

Try getting a good weapon, and using really crappy armor. Any armor under 1k gold is great, and costs almost nothing to repair. The awesome thing about it, is the low weight means you won't be slowed, and it usually has enough armor to let you die in 2 hits instead of 1.

I wish this had been out two weeks ago.

Now I have 4 level 20+ characters and I don't want to delete them all in order to get one level 30. :(

Would it be at all possible to lock them mod to certain maps with defensible, but not exploitable, locations?

It's almost balanced as-is without exploitation of terrain.

If there were more ranged unit waves, and more challenging NPC unit compositions, etc, combined with non-exploitable locations, then 100% exp rate might be reasonable.

I suppose DTV would still get much higher exp than other modes, but I think cRPG could use a mode like that.

As long as it's not effortless, and not drastically higher exp/gold.

PS. Would it be possible to add a degree of randomization to DTV? I.e. have 'levels' which could be any of several different unit waves?

It would be a lot more fun if you weren't sure if you were going to get the easy-peasy nords with only 2H axes and throwing weapons, or if you might get the head-smashingly annoying ranger types, in chainmail with bows, swords, and shields, or a small set of ultra tough boss units.

General Discussion / Re: Stop the Hate

You guys need to stop the crpg hate.  The fact is chadz has created an online game that has a larger community and is more successful than some big name mmo's.

OK, hold on just a minute here. This mod is great, but "more successful than some big name mmo's?"

Like, what, solitaire?

The smallest MMO I can think of off the top of my head has over 5000 players last time I checked.

Most small MMO's have tens of thousands. They also built games from the ground up, and make a lot more money than chadz.

cRPG is much more successful than most mods, and is really pretty well made over all, considering it's made by players so to speak.

It is NOT more successful than ANY big name MMO's though.

I'd like to see the 1250 or 1500 options, with a (lowered) gen bonus and/or a time spent on server bonus (if that is hardware-possible).

I haven't thought through the time spent on server bonus, but the idea would give players a +0.1 bonus to their exp per tick either every 10 minutes, or at the ends of rounds.

Then have this continue until they quit the server.

It has it's downsides but it's a thought.

Of course, an increased exp gain rate, and Gen bonus, could work great, but perhaps only if heirlooms were changed a bit.

Although, as a noob, I don't really feel at a large disadvantage against 'loom outfitted opponents because of their heirlooms, usually it's because they are much higher level, are much richer (hence uber-heavy armor), and are usually better, in that order.

I don't know if I like the current system, but this would be worse imo, and I doubt chadz would ever consider it, since it would basically be a weird revert to the old system.

On your system, everyone end game would just be further encouraged to wear the best armor in the game 24/7.

I'd rather see a couple of tiers of armor, that have -almost- uniform stats, and each tier has a advantages/disadvantages. Then individual armor pieces could be selected based on look.

This could be accomplished mostly with weight of the armor (light, medium, heavy), so there would be different reasons to wear different armor, and there wouldn't be a single, "best."

I don't know if that would really be better than the current or old setups though.

Repairs are a bitch, but it's not that horrible a system really, it just sucks if you like certain high level items as a noob (I <3 my Flamberge).

tbh being new is the funnest part. your leveling up getting stronger, if you dont enjoy that then you missed half the point of cRPG. its later on when your lvl 30 that it gets boring and becomes a dull grind.

That part is great, it would just be better if it happened over a shorter amount of time, especially since you can't reset skills.

25-50% faster leveling would be fantastic imo, and/or a sharper curve at a later level, so that noobs can hit level 15-ish much faster.

Most builds become semi-viable at least around that point, 20 is a little better, but you can manage at 15.

At 10 you still get killed due to crappier equipment/stats all the time.

under 10 you just die out of hand.

The noob levels can be amusing, but only if they don't last too long, and at least I think they do right now.

Also, you can't actually start getting better until you get something close to your final setup.

Big ugly blokes with beards running around with false boobs in dresses stops being funny when you've seen it for the hundred millionth time.
I think there was only ever one occasion on the battle servers where I saw that bride dress actually being worn by a female character.

So I suppose that makes it mandatory to remove it from the game entirely?

What about all us new players who haven't gotten to have fun with this?

I think 'free exp' rounds are fine to have, but only if you make sure the players have to work hard to get them.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: Time it takes to 31
« on: May 05, 2011, 12:40:29 am »
I still think it is quite a long time. But not because of the xp cap, but because the XP needed in the first place is too high. An adequate solution would be a base EXP of 1500 and a rework of the generation cap so it caps at 2500.

I don't understand why chadz thinks grinding is boring, but throws us such a high amount of time to be "full level" or try another build.

Yeah, less total time to level up would be really nice.

There's enough advantage to trying new builds and heirlooming items that replayability wouldn't really suffer with a lower grind than the huge one we have now.
