Agreed ... the "well in real life" arguments are annoying. Real life war isnt fun ... no matter what weapons you use =P

What is this? You found a someone with a headshot arrow in their corpse and took a screen ... what is this meant to prove? Headshots happen?

Kill people as a lvl 1 archer sounds like BS to me also... unless you are talking a multi gen character. I was level 11 before i got my first kill, and this is my first character.

I played my archer yesterday for the first time since 2.0. Pre 2.0 i could usually get a 2-1 KD ratio (except on cav maps!). While leveling back to above lvl 20, i had only 2 maps where i ended up above 1-1. Now i dont claim to be the best archer, i'm probably average or a little better (when i play this char a lot) so i think average results are representative of this average player. Also, i didnt find hitting people's feet below their shields to be easy ... the one time i succeded the guy didnt die and was now close enough to clobber me.

That said... so what if an excellant archer gets a great k/d ratio? Does anyone cry nerf when Balb or Gore top the charts? So why cry when only of the best archers in the game does? Seems to me that the best players will top the charts with their builds ... and that is working as intended.

For me, i'll be happy with my 1-1ish ratio on both my archer and my awl-and-boarder and enjoy playing a game.

NA is 80 or 100 population cap, a team is max 40/50. It's between 24%-30% if server is full at the time of capture.

Really? The 120 server went away in the week i've been gone then.

Maybe not full of archers, but there are enough that I hold my shield up nearly all the time again. From a NA server yesterday:

So you got a picture of somewhere between 8 and 10 archers (might be 8, but 10 if everyone in the shot is an archer)... out of what, 60 people on your team? So lets assume there are a few more running around somewhere and make the math easy and say there were 12 total on your team. 1 in 5 (or 20%) of people are playing archer.

Is that too many? What is an acceptable number of archers on a team? 10%? Seriously ... =P

Not that making sense has anything to do with gaming but ...

In the real world the true tradeoff to the heaviest armors (besides the fact that there were so expensive as to be mostly for ceremony) was that you had almost no manuverability in plate. Event splint/banded mails cut down on the ability to wield certain weapons. And if you've ever worn a suit of chain armor you know that it would be very unlikely for anyone to run any great distance in it ... let alone run a mile and then fight someone when they got there. =)

That seems silly. Is there a limit to how many times you can give someone a rating? I mean if you really wanted to be a troll you could just give people +1 for 50 days straight and single handedly boot someone =P

So, wait ... wouldnt negative troll points mean LESS of a troll? (ie a -10 troll is not a troll where a +25 would be a pretty big troll)  :?:

* The character menu cannot be used before choosing a team and throws errors.

Ah I forgot this one in my list. Very good catch. I definitely prefer to manage my character from the spectator menu so i dont have to dodge while i allocate points! =)

Ah, good to know. Bummer it cant be changed though.

Is damage based on the size of the horse? If it is based on the size of the horse it may help as less people should (theoretically) be riding plated chargers soon.

1) The battle-win snowball effect - If one team wins, it makes it easier to keep winning as the losing team ends up breaking armor/weapons and fighting naked (exaggerating just a bit). IF you get on the losing team it actually makes more sense to switch out of your good gear, thereby giving your team LESS chance of winning as everyone switches to low upkeep gear.

2) Archery seems to have been over nerfed. Losing both accuracy and damage (and higher PD bows) may have been overkill and may work better as one or the other (I'd rather have accuracy than damage).

3) Leave-game penalties - between the kick bug and some of us only playing for 15 minutes at a time between other responsibilities (kids!) it seems very harsh to penalize someone who has to step away from the game. I understand trying to keep people from quitting if they are going to lose (especially with the new upkeep system) but it makes me decide not to play at all if i cant dedicate a lot of time in a night. If i want a quick game, i have to find something else.

4) Horse trample - i like the idea of team damage, but perhaps horses should only trample at high speed. This would be more realisitc anyway, as while a horse moving slowly can definitely push you out of the way (or step on a toe!) it is unlikely to "damage" you without a bit of momentum behind it.

5) Non-strategus disadvantage - it seems like this patch heavily favors strategus players. I havent tried strategus and like CRPG for the persistant characters, but the upkeep systems seems based on people obtaining money from strategus to be able to afford CRPG and not the othr way around. Having not played strategus i may be wrong in this and just perceiving it based off of the short time since the patch launched.

Yeah, I thought a few people would like that. I figured the "sarcasm" would be well-received by those thinking I'm trolling. Secretly, however, I hold the fact that I have a 142 IQ close to my heart. But shhhh, don't tell anyone. Let them think I'm trolling. It's better that way. If you actually tell people when you're a genius, anyone who isn't automatically has a defense mechanism in their brain that kicks in, not allowing them to believe it. Idiots like to think the concept of a "genius" is a made-up fairytale, like dragons or vampires. It's best to let them believe that. So let's not tell them, ok?

i know ... i get the same reaction from people when i tell them I'm God ...  :rolleyes:

Ya. Definitely hit archers hard. I appreciate the effort, but its a dang good thing that everyone will be running around naked soon, cuz my arrows just bounce off people with any kind of armor now. =)

I guess archers are the naked-hunter class ;)

What Reinhart says looks true. I dont play strategus (was considering looking for a clan sometime in the future) just crpg so this makes it look like playing will actually cost gold. At what gear level does it actually cost less gold in upkeep than what you are winning? Anyone know the magic gear combo to actually make money yet?

Also, is the idea that you have to play strategus to make money now? *confused*
